Apparently, I'm finally getting up the nerve to post some of my original music here. I've been composing mostly videogame-inspired music, off-and-on, for about 10 years. Some of my previous stuff can be found on my SoundCloud page, but this thread will be used to share only new pieces, whether they be doodles, serious projects, or unfinished failures (There are generally a lot of that last kind).

Thanks to new user dream&bass for talking me into going through with this: ". . .[A]rt is about individualism! Don't be shy to post your work, I'd love to hear it."

Feedback is appreciated. I only ask that if you hate anything you hear, please tell me why.

Update, 8/3/13
Untitled (Unfinished)
I didn't have any goals in mind when I started this; it's the result of me playing around with various electric piano instruments and building onto the basic progression heard in the beginning.

Awesome! I'm glad I helped you share you work. It's cool, it definitely has a video game quality to it. Are these pieces made for games in collaboration with developers? I've been considering experimenting in that avenue of composition and income, but as of now, I've been finding success in individual commission pieces for performance groups.

I dig the roving harmony in Jayen's Theme, cool stuff! One thought I had is, are you intentionally preferring the midi sound (I know, and appreciate that as a valid aesthetic) or are you limited by sample libraries? Anyways, I ask this because I extended to you an offer for midi reamping if you ever want high quality orchestral renders of your music. You can just send me the midi data with the midi channels and preference for each instrument. I'd be more than glad to do it. You may prefer the midi sound, so it's completely up to you!

Glad you posted. :]

Jayen's Theme is one of my favorites, heh. "Roving Harmonies" is a dangerous habit to have. It makes it tough to keep a central harmonic theme going.

The "Thing-a-Day for a Week" project isn't actually MIDI recordings. They were rendered using an SNES soundfont. "The Neverending" and "Fugue State" were written for a contest I hosted that accepted either MIDI or audio entries. My entries were composed specifically for the MSGS synth that comes standard in Windows, so that's why those recordings sound like MIDI.

I appreciate the rendering offer, but I'm good on sample libraries. If anything, I have too many tools and not enough vision and focus!

Again, great work on your album, and thanks for the inspiring words.

Pensive-land.....
Not quite video game music though. The drums have a good beat, but shouldn't be doing any crazy stuff (like at the start). Video games rarely need music this easy-it's generally more involving, more melodic, more upbeat, more hardcore and adrenaline-generating, or something similar.
Cool though, it's nice to listen to.
