What sites are good, logical, and valid to study up on Jung, MBTI, case studies, types, and the likes? Which sites do you like?

I've seen a lot of threads with cool info, and I would love to have an idea of where to start studying more than just, "INTPs are xxx".

CelebrityTypes.com is one of the most sophisticated type sites out there (contrary to the impression you might have from its name).

I'd argue there's nothing more to it, MBTI is a system of classification, there isn't literally 16 different types of people, rather people can be sorted into sixteen types which gives a roundabout impression of who they are and what they're about, but there's no deeper insight to be found.

Unless you want to devise INTP subtypes and subtypes of those subtypes ad infinitum but then you'll find people who fit multiple types or keep changing and that's just the nature of a classification system because when you take that top down approach the devised types will always be inherently arbitrary.

True insight would require mapping everyone's genome, figuring out what it all does and then you can say this person is personality type AC72-953 because <reason 1> <reason 2> <reason 3> and thus we can conclude that they have an above average probability of scratching their nose at the end of this paragraph.

If you're into graphs I complied some in one of my older threads: http://www.intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=22561

16personalities has some good writing too. There's a lot of articles on theory, research, statistics and so on. Add on /articles or /research at the end of the url and you'll find lots.

I have to agree with @Cognisant to an extent, the system of MBTI only correlates certain general behavior descriptions to the cognitive functions. It is a kind of arbitrary heuristic which is more along the lines of a horoscope than an accurate description of the manifestation of the functions. (Many people can relate to the description of INTP, for instance, without actually operating with Ti-Ne-Si-Fe or relating to the descriptions of these individual functions). Therefore, I think MBTI and Jungian psychology are best studied as separate topics.

That said, there are a lot of resources out there for both!

I've heard about 16personalities, I don't know if its accurate, my friend took the online test on 16personalities, I have yet to take it, I was typed and a took a paper test to find out my type, I had to redo it to get an accurate result, nothing fits like INTP.

Thank you everyone. This is great. I'm hoping soon to understand all of the "Ne Ni Te Ta..." references and be able to hold up conversations about them.

CelebrityTypes.com is one of the most sophisticated type sites out there (contrary to the impression you might have from its name).

I misspelled this when typing it in, and it brought me to celebrity sex tapes :ahh:... But I did find the correct site.

I'd argue there's nothing more to it, MBTI is a system of classification, there isn't literally 16 different types of people, rather people can be sorted into sixteen types which gives a roundabout impression of who they are and what they're about, but there's no deeper insight to be found.

And thus, the reason I wanted to go beyond "INTPs don't like potatoes"... etc. :)

This is a lot, thanks!

I took the 16 personalities test, I got INTP  I don't know if I trust it enough still.

I'm sure questioning it proves you're an INTP... or at least helps the case for it.
