5/10 I guess. I do care about vocals, but it's more about how they sound than what they're saying, honestly. I liked the guitar part and the chorus was decent to listen to, but it bordered on hiphop at times and I'm not a fan.

I actually liked the BFMV one significantly more (8/10) despite some cringe-worthy lyrics and even more cringe-worthy fingerless gloves (for some reason those bothered me far more than they probably should've).

I can top you in the angst department btw.

5/10. Kind of "gay" sounding, similar to high school, "Vans Warped Tour" days. It didn't do that much for me besides exercise a little nostalgia.

First video 8/10, I kinda enjoyed it. Reminded me of Rage Against the Machine.

Second video 7/10

Apart from the lyrical content, I give this a 9/10. I know this song very well.

I know that it's VFX.
Are you still busy faking refugee numbers?
Because this kind of housing is exactly what these refugees will be housed in, considering that it costs so little.
And then people complain about ghettoisation.
It's logically totally paradox.
have you ever done anything for refugees or anyone in need? Based on the consistent lack of constructive thoughts and persistent negativity in your tone, I suspect you're mostly dealing in terms of social prestige bucks. I would recommend giving some euros to charity (or better yet; a flesh-and-blood homeless person) – it'll make you feel better and alleviate some of that social-commentary-punk-rock neuroticism you're carrying around.

Yes, i have housed refugees, helped them in my spare time to become fluent in my language, helped them with bureaucratic challenges in every way i could.
Just as i would do for ANY next door neighbor or common human i meet on the street.
In case you are wondering, i also try to help the homeless, not considering their racial identity to the best of my abilities.
I don't spend bucks on charity, because i am myself a case of charity and simply can't afford that kind of luxury, but i put in all the manpower i have left over to help people.
You seem to talk out of your own ass a lot.

BUT

That's not really the question you are posing yourself.
Because even if i tell you about all the marvelous things i did in the name of "integration" that will never be enough for your kind of xenophobes.
In fact by doing those things i end up on a list of "race traitors" to be harassed and in the worst case scenario physicall harmed or even murdered.
Well, if you want to murder me because of my humanity, you certainly are not my neighbor anymore.

Pretty good rhythmically, emotive and wholesome 7/10, one of the better punk albums I've heard.

6/10 It's okay, I think it would be something I'd listen to while gaming or maybe exercising.

Man this thread is Actually good, we should resurrect it, the rock song is 5/10 the chords are pretty repetitive which wouldn't be a problem if the lyrics are more imaginative, also the ref is too long, but pretty catchy.

Retro game song is 6/10, pretty standard nothing special, I could imagine myself playing Chrono Trigger.

i always feel like romanticism-era music is trying to yank a sort of happy emotions out of me. A simple, uncomplicated sort of emotions... like you're a baby and tasting sugar for the first time. I dunno, I guess I'm missing the parts of the brain that are supposed to enjoy it. 5.5 / 10.

I enjoy music that have a certain variation or structure, when the tempo and chords are consistent you need to spice it up with lyrics, when there are no lyrics (Classic music) you need to change the tempo, alternate between the chords, change the rhythm, etc.

5/10.

For me it's not necessarily about the emotions but about the beauty of the musical structure, if you don't like romanticism maybe early classical:

(Just listen to the first 15 minutes)

Notice how the main theme in is only hinted at throughtput the pieces and the revealed in 5:15.

I mean Bach is clearly a master of his craft. I admit I find it harder to appreciate his work on piano as much as some of his other compositions for organ, choral, concerto, etc. But I'm sure that's just personal preference.

7/10 - appreciate it but don't think I would come back to this.

I'll play. It sounds like an incredibly hungover Com Truise and MGMT tried to make a utopian vaporwave track, failed, but realized it halfway through. 7/10

It's okay but based on this song I think they're wearing their influences a bit too close and need to venture out a bit. Or just be a good cover band. I can't hear anything that stands out from others that gives them a unique musical identity. 4/10

I was surprised that this song is all guitar. Apparently they're getting the sound on the main riff using purely harmonic notes and effects pedals. Really slaps though

Sounds like the music I heard a week ago at this nightclub, just less creative, distinctiveness doesn't equate with quality, 2/10.

3/10. Not a fan.

This track is from an old dungeon synth project by one of the members of Moonsorrow:

Yeah, again, Bach is obviously a master and this is a pretty iconic piece from him. 9/10

Been listening to Kendrick Lamar as he released a new album recently. This is from his most iconic album:

kinda the same vibe as Bernard Wright's "Haboglabotribin". I suppose musically it deserves some props for paying homage to oldschool hiphop, but the ostentatious vulgarity and simplicity of the lyrics (basically he wants to fuck his ex or whatever) are in stark contrast to the supposed political theme seen on the cover of the album. But for a contemporary rap song it ain't bad 6/10

Is that Terry Crews' voice? 2/10 this song could work if it had more effort put in it.
There's only one way to counter right wing music and it's with this healthy song :D

It’s not a genre I listen to too much but it was enjoyable enough on my train ride home

From a different side of the 90s rave scene :p

I don’t know why I never gave Depeche Mode a proper listen before but their album Violator is a masterpiece:

4/10 Okay I didn't expect to like it as much, it has a cheesy 2000s music vibes, in a good way, it'd be a point higher if the main singer suddenly pause and a featured rapper started rapping in the second ref or something.

Feast your ears on Meat motherfucking loaf.

Meatloaf, 5/10. I liked him in Rocky Horror, but as a musician strictly mediocre.

Mushroomhead - The Heresy...

I feel like this discussion needs a revival, not a big fan of metal, the energy is always high but without proper lyrics, harmony, and rythm it just feels like un channeled preassure, more like a forest fire and less like an internal combustion engine.

2/10

I'm a big fan these days of southern country music, especialy when they have mystical or narrative lyrics.

6/10 - based on this I'd probably recommend an indie folk group called Big Thief to you, in particular their album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. I'd say they have mystical lyrics in places.

I'll link this artist instead as it's who I've been listening to this week though. Richard Dawson is a UK eccentric folk musician, a lot of his songs are based around narrative story-telling:

2/10 at normal speed, but if I go 2x it's probably a 6/10. Can't deal with lower energy music it makes me feel bad but speeding it up helps.

6/10 I like death metal but headphones don't do it justice, now if I was drunk and having this blasted at me through a sound system with proper bass that would be 9/10.

I've been really into Grim Salvo lately.

I really like that. It's a bit I dunno... adolescent angsty? It feels aimed at a younger audience. But the music itself is great if I tune out the lyrics (I have this issue with a lot of music).

If it were performed in another language I'd give it maybe an 8.5 which is very good. As is it's probably a 6.5? One of the better recommendations I've seen in this thread, thanks.

Reminds me a lot of back when nu metal was really popular and you had semi-mainstream metal actually being inventive. People hate on nu metal as a fad but IMO it's still got a lot of untapped potential.

I really like the orchestral component of this mixed with the drums, especially in the last half.

I like the drums and the riff in the latter half. The music video was creative as well, would probably place higher around 7/10 with the video.

This is punk/noise rock, songs are short bursts of energy and attitude. I like their group vocals and distinct style. This is probably the hookiest/catchiest guitar riff on the album:
