Sort of wondering where I should the rating at, since the rating is more leaning towards the feeling of mellow more than any artistic ability or musical creativeness. 6 seems too mean but then 8 seems too high (you're high) so a seven seems lucky enough.
(Now I'm wondering whether or not I should post Spoon or Daft Punk.. ah, let's go for obscure):
Did you hear the superior mixing? Did you hear the drums and the organ and the piano and the entire cornucopia of sweet, sweet ear-sounds underneath the entire song as a fifteen-year-old Shuggie shreds out one of the most fantastic guitar solos my inebriated mind has ever heard?
I dunno, maybe I've just listened to the song high a little too often.
That brings back some good memories, both happy and sad. :,3 It makes me think of how much of a different person I am now than I was then. I was so isolated, so so isolated. It is the same feeling I got when I watched a video that was about me and my mental illness and how it affected my family. It had pictures of when I was young... I was so happy then...
10/10
Jeez brontoyo, some of your tastes are too good. This is just so epic in the most paradoxical way. The track isn't even over yet but I'm going to re listen to it as soon as it's finished!
It's sort of hard to rate game themes, because there's a lot that's going inside the piece itself. There isn't much of a coherent theme within it. It tries to invoke adventure but goes on somewhat of a postmodernistic take on the feel, going from one melody to another in quick session, trying to invoke and represent as many themes as possible, possibly trying to reflect what goes on inside the drama of the game. If anything, it feels manufactured because it has to mold into the motifs of the game itself. That sort of downsizes and limits how the music is to be interpreted, I think.
A lot of them were isntantly recognisable, so that was pretty good. Louis Armstrong was hilariously bad but still worked. Eric B & Rakim was the perfect ending
Reminds me of Mos Def in the lyrics. A bit too much crammed in, too much eagerness and seriousness detracting from the cool. Somehow quality anyway. 5/10
Was expecting this to go the other way entirely to be honest and be much more of a traditional oriental type of music however, the mellow, dreamy vibe a la Pink Floyd was a pleasant surprise. The change in pace and urgency with the klaxon sound around the 2:30 mark was pretty cool too. Vocals were decent but it would have been nice to understand the lyrics as I unfortunately don't speak Japanese:
Ehh I'll say 7/10, it's not what I'm used to, so that's a plus factor in itself, but it means I can't really differentiate within the higher reigns of quality, nahmean.
