If there is one thing I literally wince at, it is stupidity in front of a large crowd of people. I literally pucker up my face and look away.

Love the wrap, though.

lol! This has also made my day; thank you. I can't believe you had the guts to post this :)

I love how you whip offf the blue thing halfway through, and then look surprised and try to cover yourself when someone hands it back to you. Priceless!

You're a bit lucky you didn't knock that asian girl out with your foot, though.

And you are not 20 lbs chubby! :pueh:

Ohhhh yeah? Does your inner stripper come out? ;)

Depends how old I was. The younger me turned into an angry douche bag that wanted to argue with everyone (making the distinction with the 'disgruntled cynic that wants to debate with everyone' while sober). The latter years I turned into a pitiful, self destructing, miserable recluse.

That might not have sounded as good humored as the atmosphere of this post, but in hindsight, I can't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude for my former self.

Seconded.

And you know what's more embarrassing than pole-dancing in public?
Being complimented for your pole-dancing :D

So who else enjoyed the performance, speak up!

No no no. put hands down! Didn't you all see me try and mix burlesque into my bar style pole dancing?! disgraceful! :D

wow oresama, you are too good at this torture Ashenstar thing :phear:

I didn't get tipped but I did win that contest. See on the boat all the singles ladies had to get up and do this. It was down to me and the girl on my left. She was a little better with her hips.... but I sealed the deal when I took it off. *nods*

I was the University Drinking Champion, undefeated for 5 years straight. Because of my ridiculous behavior, while inebriated, i became a local legend. People would write on the walls of bars and elsewhere on the Southside of Chicago "Da Blob was Here...!'
Thus I simply can not take myself too seriously, for unfortunately I remember some of the worst episodes. It is difficult to be puffed up with pride, when one has so much to be ashamed of...

EDIT: but I never, ever 'pole-danced"

likewise. I'm pretty sure if I somehow couldn't go back to my home, or if I otherwise desperately needed a place to stay for a little bit, I think I would make a thread here asking if I could stay at anyone's place before I talked to any of my real life friends. So I guess I do know what you mean.

I feel a bit guilty now, though... I haven't even posted my voice on here, yet :kilroy:

It's really cool you were able to let loose and have fun like that. I mean, I guess that's something most people take for granted, but for me it would take alot of alcohol (an amount I've yet to consume apparently) and alot of not-giving-a-shit (i.e. alcohol) to behave like that....in front of people. Kudos for posting it.

And as for the 20 lbs. chubby thing, I tend to prefer that anyway. (seriously, what is it with women and needing to be skinny? not directed at the OP, just a general question that's been bugging me)

Well, I guess you could say it's kind of like an insurance policy against obesity. I mean, the skinnier you are, the less likely you are to be overweight in the future. So maybe it's like someone becoming greedy so they won't have to worry about ever being poor.

Of course, I'm probably way off on what drives that mindset. It's probably a media thing to some degree.

@Kuu - I have a feeling that what I'm about to say may just make things worse. My ... *sigh* parents dragged me onto the boat. It was not my choice. To make up for it I shoved both of them onto the tour bus to the Mayan ruins 2 hours away. heh heh. I've never seen my mom look so bored in her life.

@ Snik- Meh *shrug* Its all good. Enola <--- heh heh comes up as Ebola in my iPhone , may say whatever she wishes.

Interesting thing about weight. Girls do try and strive for stick thin. My 5ft frame is natually that way. That extra 20lbs took some work ;) I was reading though, not sure where that a little chubbiness points to people living longer. Girls need meat on their bones!!

Also hasn't anyone considered why some guys like skinny girls?

TvTropes lead me to a forum or something where the attractiveness of bandages on anime characters was being discussed and how in Japan some people actually wear bandages as a fashion statement. The consensus was that bandages imply vulnerability and what's more attractive to some insecure Japanese teen than a cute, wounded girl he can look after?
Aww, more than a bit creepy, but still aww, still mostly creepy though :phear:

Apply the same vulnerability principal to skinny girls and you can see where this gets creepy, could it be that some guys like skinny girls because it appeals to some provider/protector fantasy/instinct? Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with a toned body, but the just muscle-and-bone look isn't attractive, so naturally the anaemic look is even worse.
Unless your into that sort of thing *cringe*

Anyway a little extra meat accentuates curves :D

Oh yeah. that Japanese bandage fad completely slipped my mind until now.

Hmmm, I have yet to meet a guy with heterosexual preferences who didn't have that slight draw to vunerable girls to some degree. I'm mentally trying to go back through all the guys I've ever met...... no small task.

It's just in varrying degrees. It can be as simple as seeing a short girl not being able to reach the top shelf and thinking "Awww." for a moment before helping her.

Having a subconscious draw to really skinny girls for the vunerability is kinda creepy I agree. I'm trying to think of an example.... from personal life but am unable. It also goes against the "Hey! This woman is curvy, healthy, and ready for baby making! Let's practice!!" mind set that is supposed to be implanted into male brains.

My ex was certainly vulnerable in that way and I will freely admit that there is an attraction to playing the hero in the relationship. What I can tell you from that experience is that it gets old. Real old.

That expressed vulnerability does a couple positive things... first it provides a reason, or excuse, to develop intimacy besides "I'd like to get in your pants", which is a struggle for many guys who don't want that to be the reason they get involved with someone. Second, none us of are invulnerable to the ultimate flattery of being someone's hero. Not worshiped, but appreciated.

The problem is that with real injuries, real problems, they heal over time with effort. If they don't heal they weren't real, or you didn't really help. In either case the hero mystique dies a quick death. If you're far enough into the relationship at that point to have self-sustaining intimacy then that's alright, if a bit uncomfortable. If not, it can create enough of a barrier to starve the relationship out.

Obviously the solution to the short term planner is to create a new situation in which the other person can be a hero to get that feeling back. And thus the manipulation begins.

For that reason I'm now extremely wary of anyone who claims they need help but don't really. I'll move a sofa if you're too weak, but if you ask me to do it again, you might get the robot.

I'm not sure exactly how the super-skinny fad fits into that, but I find it about as attractive as someone with severe emotional problems. They're still fine people I'm sure, but my natural inclination is not "I want to get romantically involved."

Ah yes Decaf, the "girl" games. You are not the only person I've heard say that it gets stale rather quickly.

I will admit to using the help me tool for flirting very sparingly and with the obvious that I'm just using it as a ploy to make the guy feel good and appreciated.

I was just in the shower thinking about the weight thing.
I'm guessing a lot of the guys who are interested in girls who make themselves too skinny realize that it's a fashion thing. Their girls need to fit a certain expectation in order to positively reflect on the guy. Any guy who wanted that type of girl probably would have a phobia of the words "Dude, you're gf is fat!" In this case it would not be an attraction to the vunerability.....well... it would be an attraction still since then the guy could capitilize on the girls more fragile ........ ok I'm just going off here. Cut rambling short.

Good for you, Ashenstar, but isn't it a shame so many of us need alcohol before we reach that kind of comfort level? We need special inducements to put ourselves out in front where we might be noticed. And this was a competition, too? I am in awe.

And I am among those who didn't notice any extra 20 pounds. I might be an Ancient, but my eyesight is still good.

Footnote: Schadenfreude: What about all those poor losers who can't really sing or dance but we get to watch them make fools of themselves on "America's Most Talented" and shows of similar ilk? Are they shills or something? Paid to look pathetic to evoke emotions among us ranging from "What a dork!" to "I'm so glad it's not me"? Then we get the rug pulled out from us when Susan Boyle takes the stage, looking like we expect a self-deceived frumpy loser to look, and blows everyone away and the doors off the studio with a huge, magnificent voice better than most professional singers could ever hope to sound like? What's the opposite of schadenfreude, not enjoying someone's troubles but enjoying their triumph? I had this wonderful moment of "you go, Susan, stick it up the beautiful people's smug butts." Childish emotion, but from what I can tell I wasn't the only one. :)

Thank you eveyone for the encouragement.
I fully expected to be judged negatively and am pleasantly surprised.
I think more INTPs should try and indulge this sort of behaviour occasionally.
I actually have had a desire to take pole dancing classes before. I'm just waiting to leap into it. Funny thing is I like it partly because when I was a little girl there was a smooth metal sign post outside my house I used to love swinging around and around on and pulling myself up to see if I was strong enough to lift myself up from the ground and then of course see how long I could stay suspended with sweaty palms and a metal pole.

haha, how could we judge you negatively? I'm pretty sure I actually gained a lot of respect for you. It was great.

People who do ridiculous things like that in real life are the ones I usually enjoy being around the most.

I should note, though, that I find girls embarrassing themselves more attractive than just about anything else in the world, so I'm sure that's not working against you either ;). Can't speak for the others, though.

i feel somewhat insulted. i know us intps have a record of criticizing small errors.. but..
i think its really part of the fact that we dont want people to falsely assume something - or to help. if you are simply enjoying yourself.. and you assume that it is completely ridiculous.. i think an intp would be inclined to say something like "everyone enjoys themselves".. however.. if you were to say "hey guys, look at me.. im one of the greatest pole dancers ever... and im probably the hotttest girl alive too" then you would probably get some negative feedback from an intp.

im not sure i can speak for all intps..
but i generally respond positively to people who think they arent exactly doing something great.
and i tend to respond negatively to someone who thinks they are "all that"

EDIT: i just realized that when you wished intps would engage in that behavior more.. you were saying engage in "stupid" fun activities... not engage in being nice and paying complements.. lol

Ah, my apologies Snik. I never meant to cause insult. I think I base the expectation to be judged negatively on past patterns and also I think expected rejection may be a small INTP thing ? perhaps?

:)

And yes, INTPs should engage in more "stupid" activities. I highly encourage it. No need to be a super serious INTP all of the time. Perhaps others will post of their sillyness?

I definitely do. But most of my "stupid activities" aren't recorded. I guess I could post some anecdotes though. The biggest thing I've recently done was make a 10 foot snake out of a really bad, skinny (but colorful) scarf I made. Then I stuffed it with a polar fleece lining and rice. This was totally on impulse, just because I could. It turned out pretty well though.

I also do a lot of "stupid" stuff by leading conversations in very odd directions. Some subjects I've led conversations into subjects like bioluminescent bug feces. :) Fun stuff.

Oh, and for encouraging INTP silliness, I highly encourage playing Balderdash. Very fun stuff.

anyway yeah. i'll admit i do some pretty stupid shit sometimes, but i also refrain from doing stupid shit because theres always a certain level of inhibition whether i want it there or not. that's what kept me from joining in that strip 21 game the other day...

but anyway, you should see me dancing. i get krunk. and yes, that is as horrible as it sounds.

Shoeless your post made me laugh with delight. Strip 21? Krunk? :D
I would love to see you dance and if you gave me a little time and well.... a mixed drink I would totally join you.

Ermine, if I created something as wonderful as a 10ft snake I would not be able to refrain from chasing people and attacking them with it. I act like a little kid more than I like to admit.

Just the other day my bf kinda stomped toward me and I cried out "Ahhhh! Gojira!!!"

Playing pretend, something I've never grown out of. Anyone else see a spaceship instead a pen everytime they have to write something? Am I the only 24 year old that still pretends he's driving a hover craft when driving down the road?

i often pretend people are stalking me... waiting for the perfect moment to destroy me psychologically.
then again.. im not too sure im just pretending.

btw.. i always hated the use of "play pretend" why cant everyyone just say "pretending".. i think i should add that to the "words i hate" thread.

Heh at work we have this thing that has a little red laser on it. It's used to measure the temp of the pool water.

Of course I grabbed it and peeked around corners pretending to shoot my coworkers.

pretending is something I never grew into. I'm pretty sure I was just a fully serious/logical/intuitionless little POS from the time I could think using words. There's something about it that I just never "got". I would almost think I were an ISTP, except that I have even less of an idea what's going on in my environment than I do ability to think about ideas. My Ne just bypassed creativity.... if that's possible.

Yay! Ash shakes her booty and her inhibitions! I loved the vid and the fact that you don't wear one of those hideous bikini concoctions made for torture. I have to say that if you are "20 lbs chubby" I'm screwed! (Hah, kind of literally what with everybody's response to your statement...thank the gods for men and women with realistic and healthy ideas about weight.)

I'm guessing a lot of the guys who are interested in girls who make themselves too skinny realize that it's a fashion thing. Their girls need to fit a certain expectation in order to positively reflect on the guy. Any guy who wanted that type of girl probably would have a phobia of the words "Dude, you're gf is fat!" I second you, Decaf, and the forum member formerly known as cog as well. It's about image, head games and ego. I am disturbed by the idea that it's expected to be attracted to prepubescent looking women. The vulnerable bit I get. It's nice to feel like a hero from time to time but why isn't a voluptuous women with all the meat and curves needed to be comfortable to snuggle with not the ideal? They can be vulnerable from to from time to time! If I were into women nothing could peel me off Nigella Lawson!

Who am I kidding? A women who looks like her and cooks like a divinely plump goddess? If it weren't for my bf I'd squeeze every inch of that woman tomorrow.

Hehe! I used to climb the long pole of the swing set at school with just my hands. I'd swing my legs back and forth while inching up with my hands. Oh the memories.

I applaud you for your bravery Ash! Even if it was alcohol induced.
