I listened to a whole bunch of their stuff, and this kind of drew me in, oddly enough:

And I like some of their quieter stuff too, White Waking sounds like a Japanese version of Velvet Underground with Nico...and I really like Enter the Mirror.

Ah yes, I'm pretty sure that's from the Ethan Mousike VHS, found that as a torrent but it's pretty much just a mess. It's not a consistent live performance it's just 2-10 (rarely that long) minutes clips mixed together with poor sound and video quality.

I *did* manage to find 3 live performances on YouTube, though. I compiled all 3 into playlists on my channel.

http://www.youtube.com/user/pinglauwa/videos

As well as a couple of uploaded songs which I wasn't able to find on YouTube.
Those, which I've uploaded as well as 77' Live and the Yodo-Go-A-Go-Go version of Enter The Mirror.
I think I linked all the above mentioned songs in this thread. You should definitely check out those two Enter The Mirror songs if you like their quieter stuff. Oh and "Dream" Which I've uploaded as well!
But also the two songs which I've uploaded from the Studio & Soundboard 1969-1975 album "The Last One" and "Field of Artificial Flowers"
The latter is absolute ripping!

Yes, Spacemen 3 broke into Spiritualized and Spectrum. The Spiritualized gigs are some of the most amazing I have ever been to, if you get the chance, go and see them.

I'll check some of the Spiritualized stuff out then! I doubt they'll ever come to the little island I live on, though.

Not sure if you are familiar with Brian Jonestown Massacre:

I wasn't familiar with them the songs you linked was alright. They didn't exactly get me "hooked" like Rallizes and Spacemen 3 did. But "Never, Ever!" a song of theirs I found seems good, similar sound to Spacemen 3.

I've recently discovered this Australian band, The Drones:

It's noisy and slightly psychedelic.......:D

It was alright, had no problem listening to it, but wasn't exactly something I just 'needed' to find more music with. But I'll check them out, seeing that we both like Rallizes and Spacemen 3 I might like The Drones. (But god am I getting tired of "The" band names. Why does every band have a "The"? Lol
Coming up: "The Unoriginals" hehe. "The Creative Names"?)

Have you heard this its heavy real heavy you may not like that

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VDGDsvEnDs&feature=related

I know you mentioned disliking Sabbath but what about Planet Caravan? I think of it sort of in the vein you are talking about

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O63COyZlTyU

Sunn O))) seem very interesting. Heavy though? Isn't it more like ambient/drone? I'll definitely check it out!

Oh and yeah, I like that song with Sabbath, hadn't heard it before.

EDIT: Actually I really like that Sunn O))) song. I'm already looking for more.

I will have to find some time to give that a listen. I did see a documentary about someone called Scott Walker. Much of his stuff is just pop but his most recent record "the drift" I don't even know. Dark ambient or something. Very weird and out there very dark

I can't say that that's to my liking but a friend of mine is really into Scott Walker
EDIT: I don't really know why I don't like it though, it's just a little boring. But isn't Sunn O))) boring in the same way. Maybe there's just something about it which I do not like.

Also: I'll check out the other songs and reply then.

that boris reminds me a bit of Japan's Mono. This is a slower track but they have some heavier stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77x40dUoKpQ

I quite like this. But it surprises me that they are Japanese (or any other nationality than American) because a little researched showed me that their producer is American and that they record everything in Chicago and almost all of their fans on their Facebook are westerners, quite odd.

This is not really me, a little to "metally" it's really hard to explain what I mean, I sound ignorant of metal whether I try or not. There's just something about the sound of most metal, which I don't like.

I've never liked Pink Floyd, I've always found their music boring. Maybe I just haven't heard enough.

I mentioned Sunn O))) being heavy because they are deafening in concert. They have said they want to be like the Beatles for the deaf. just the feel of the speaker pushing air apparently.

Interesting, so their target audience is deaf people? Or is that just sort of something they said?

Mono is hard because i am pretty sure there are three bands that have used that name over the years. Its like Cathedral you can get anything with it Prog, Metal, Jazz.

Mono was something i found when i got into Grails. I just like the music but other people have called the style post rock. Some of the artist i like that get that name are. I'm not sure you will be into them.

Oh man, I had forgotten you had replied to this thread travelnjones - I'll check out the songs you linked.

EDIT: I know Mogwai but of those you've linked me "Red Sparrowes" is the one that had me the most interested. I'll check them out.

Check out our apocalyptic and poisonously colorful video for "Chowtime" over at Tiny Mix Tapes! Huge extra burnin' hunk of thanks for Robot Death Kites ' Jon Dominos and Low Fat Getting High's Artie Tan for their maniacal presence. Enjoy. Money Fire Records.

do it zerkalo. I recently started listening to LRD and they are wonderful.

also, did anyone mention Acid Mothers Temple? I'm very fond of their album In C, which is an interpretation of Terry Riley's minimalist composition. also really enjoy their live album Born To Be Wild in the USA 2000. there's a fantastic version of one of their most notable tunes, "La Novia", on it that I think is better than the original.
