Re: Recommended reading section?

I take it most people on the forum are the "I procrastinate because I'll get at least a B anyway" type people

Hmmm.. sort of, except in most cases it's that "I'll probably get an A anyway". Most of the time I do. ;)

I went back to college recently just to prove to myself that I could. I had all good intentions of getting any course work done on the day or as soon as after ward. That went out the window, I have much more interesting things to do with my time than study things I'm just not as interested in as I first thought. I dropped a couple of subjects and only finished two of them, I did get distinctions inthem though, Maths and English of course. I was doing well with History too but I had too much to catch up on and I couldn't afford the effort required to do it.
Part time courses are good, even better if its just one subject at a time.

I am definitely the biggest procrastinator ever.

My procrastination is the only thing I really cannot comprehend or solve...

Hahah. Has the Procrastinator's Creed been mentioned here?

I'm a terrible procrastinator. Everything is best done tomorrow. Or the day after. Or on the bus on the way to school when I have to hand it up in the first class. I always finish homework on time, and I always get it done well (I get As in everything except Irish, which is impossible) but i never do it in good time. By other people's standards. If I'm not doing it as the teacher stands over me, demanding that I hand it up already than that's 'good time' by my standards. :D

Haha, don't say modern Irish is impossible. Old Irish is!! ;) (I studied celtic studies for some time. One fellow student, who was in a higher semester than me said always: Old Irish is no language, it is a condition (a bad one).)

I believe it. Modern Irish is hard enough, although Old Irish they grew up speaking, so technically it was easier. Almost no-one grows up speaking Irish anymore; they learn it in school, and for a lot of them it's just not interesting, so most Irish people barely speak Irish at all. It's kinda sad. Tír gan teanga; tír gan anam, after all.

(I.e.: A country without a language is a country without a soul.)

The Procrastinator's Creed. I live by this, it feels like. ;) This is a colouredy page, too.

I absolutely love this topic, i have been called lazy by basically every person i have known more than a day. I have accepted my natural tendencies of procrastination and find it kind of humorous. Even at this exact point in time i am procrastinating multiple things. First of all i have been up all night, the sun is up and i have to go with my mother today to apply for a job i absolutely don't want, i should have been in bed hours ago but i cant stop thinking about a lot of the things going on right now in my life(getting a job..insurance...looking into colleges....basically transcending into an adult) so i just cant sleep...Second i have a friend who gave me money to cut his grass and i was paid Friday, here it is Wednesday and i have to go to this interview and find the time afterward to cut his grass. The odd thing is i dont care about cutting the grass, i even find it sort of relaxing with all the noise and i feel like nobody else can bother me(lol all high and babbling let me get to the point) but anyway i have just put it off for the past 5 days for no reason.

my goodness, ME TOO.

My procrastination is the only thing I really cannot comprehend or solve...

My very worst problem. I'm not sure if procrastination triggers my depression, or if its just a symptom always associated. Sometimes I can't force myself to do anything more than the bare minimums like go to work and feed my cats. I can't pay my bills (takes minutes to do online). I can't do homework (had to drop multiple classes already). I can't clean, do laundry, take out the trash, or really anything to connect with the world. Been this way since I was first given responsibilities; 8 or 9 years old? I've had some desperate moments wondering what the hell is wrong with me.

I always feel the sword of Damocles over my head, waiting to drop. When the feeling of threat gets strong enough, I burst into a flurry of activity and take care of my obligations. The problem is that I can live with that feeling of threat for an unreasonable amount of time, right up to the point of encountering real consequences. I've been far enough gone that I'm concerned that I may simply stop taking care of myself some day. I'm doing well right now, but the battle is far from over.

The inner reaches of my mind
I schedule in my procrastination. If I have a project due in two weeks, I'll schedule in 13 days of doing other stuff and 1 day of frantic working.
