if you were to spend some time recreationally and had the choice between a tumblr with poetic or witty or philosophical notes and a tumblr with artwork and you would prefer the one with artwork, would that make you a sensor?

similarly, if you were a child, would you rather look at a book with random pictures, perhaps of global history and archeology or anything or have your parents read a book to you?

above i'm assuming it could be S/N because the cliche has it, that intuitives are supposed to like reading.

or could it be the position of S and T in the stack? because to me it seems, that thinking is the most removed from vivid static impressions, because it moves so rapidly ahead, that the correlating impressions can become unconscious.

for instance would FiNeSiTe have a preference for visual impressions and NiFeTiSe have a preference for the auditory experience of language?

or is it the socionic dichotomy of dynamic versus static types (types dominant in perception or judgement)?

or is it the adaptive (Pe) versus directive (Pi) dichotomy, as podlair calls it, which is also supposedly the right versus left brain dichotomy?

Visual over written preference when it comes to choosing the entertaiment, might hint S>N.

Visual imagery over lingual thought formation when problem solving or following ideas, might hint F>T.

edit: after further consideration, it would require more information and examples to be more specific, but as a general or majority rule the above would apply.

Well, visual/verbal preferences aside, tumblr is structured in such a way that it works far better as an image streaming site and less as a traditional blog. I believe they've tried to make it more friendly towards text posts lately but there's still no collated comments section and organization is entirely dependent on your own tagging. (There's an archive function but it's not easily navigable.)

Overall, especially taking into account how far personalization of appearance can go for individual tumblrs, it's best for images and creating wordless mental streams and atmospheres. It strikes me as very Fi. :phear:

I don't think these two modes of thinking will necessarily align with any of the dichotomies. Words can be used to transmit raw information, but they can also be wielded for emotional impact. Images are possibly more suited to conveying non-linear, gestalt understandings by fully representing systems, but yeah, pretty pictures also exist.

Anyways, varying levels (and types) of analysis can be invested in visual arts as well as literature. Measuring which someone is drawn to without taking content & their own reasons and methods of thinking about it into account is too superficial an approach to draw any conclusions.
