I'm a self-taught software engineer specializing in artificial intelligence / business layer code and developer APIs; 14 years of experience, 8 professionally. Have a passion for cognitive science (primarily AI/Psychopharmacology/Psychology)

I've continously received INTJ/INTP on every test I've done. Recently however I've heard good arguments for me being an INFJ with high level of Ti.

At this point I have no clue what to believe, but I get along with all three types; so I'm here now!

Most recent test gave me the results below, interpretations/opinions about my type or questions to help determine it are welcome. Questions about my profession are also welcome, as I intend to get into behavior simulation using MBTI/Socionics as a model for development at some point:

Te (Extroverted Thinking) (40%)
your valuation of / adherence to logic of external systems / hierarchies / methods
Ti (Introverted Thinking) (95%)
your valuation of / adherence to your own internally devised logic/rational
Ne (Extroverted Intuition) (35%)
your valuation of / tendency towards free association and creating with external stimuli
Ni (Introverted Intuition) (80%)
your valuation of / tendency towards internal/original free association and creativity
Se (Extroverted Sensing) (0%)
your valuation of / tendency to fully experience the world unfiltered, in the moment
Si (Introverted Sensing) (30%)
your valuation of / focus on internal sensations and reliving past moments
Fe (Extroverted Feeling) (35%)
your valuation of / adherence to external morals, ethics, traditions, customs, groups
Fi (Introverted Feeling) (85%)
your valuation of / adherence to the sanctity of your own feelings / ideals / sentiment
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
based on your results your type is likely - intp

i find that i have always wanted to do something in ai but i don't want it to develop with a mental illness. the best place to start would be with neuroscience i am just not a programmer.

Artificial intuition o_O;. That looks interesting, as that is the one aspect I've had trouble coming up with a way to implement in code.

Mental illness for software would be called bugs. Unless they're intentional, in which case they're probably being used for clinical trials to treat mental illness. I can't wait for that day to come...

Nope.

Since I discovered MBTI however many years ago, it's always flip flopped between INTJ/INTP on online tests. Was more of a novelty until recently though. When I started studying it (primarily socionics) in order to develop a software model for cognition for fun; I started questioning why it flip flopped and what I actually would be considered.

Are you familiar with the AI used in fantasy sports draft rooms?

Not very many people are, I seem to be the only sports nut on this forum.

I am a coding noob but have various ideas on how to improve the existing products for better functionality and also a whole new format that is in demand but not mainstreamed in the slightest. If Yahoo, CBS, or ESPN got wind of the innovations I have in mind for the fantasy sports industry then they would be in a bidding war for those concepts. I am attempting to develop the concepts on my own but that process is time intensive and timing is key when it comes to innovation.

If I wanted to code something on my own in that vain, best place to start? Currently relearning Java and have a basic HTML understanding.

Do you know what algorithms are used in fantasy sports? Great thing about being a software engineer, is one of the required skillsets is being able to take any formula/ruleset and translate it into code without understanding how or why it's used.

Long as the client is happy, things are good. Creating AI for that is easy if you have an API to import the data with, or can download it in a CSV file. The problem is knowing which algorithms to use, and what metrics constitute costs and rewards.

Developing a learning algorithm would be ideal, by using previous years initial data and end result to train it on recognizing the ideal patterns. But custom learning algorithms are... time consuming. Only one I've messed with is dynamic mapping of an environment and using A* algorithm for navigation.

The 2nd paragraph is the reason why I think things are the way they are. It works OK and these companies are turning a huge profit from very little overall costs. They don't have the proper incentive to improve their products. Also it requires turning aspects of subjective information into code and this is where their algorithms fail them. If I try to explain anymore then I would have to go into details of the issues they have which I don't want in a public forum.

It sounds like it will be impossible to code the whole thing by myself and the recent startups have gone with a 3rd party developing team on a contract basis. If I can recruit a team of programmers that would be ideal but not sure how realistic that is and if any real programmers are as hardcore about sports as me to begin with.

Much obliged for the detailed answer to my question. It made me do some critical thinking on the matter.
