I guess some people desire their politicians to be excessively tall. Perhaps it's a matter of patriotism. Some people probably derive some sort of psychological pleasure when they see their country's head of state next to a shorter (and uglier) foreign country's head of state.

Perhaps the political arena turns "average" height into the equivalency of midget height. What would politics be without large amounts of overcompensation?

America's already shown it can elect a black president. So maybe some former NBA players should run, once they become old enough to do so. They could stare down any head of state and look totally badass in every picture with them and those poor foreigners.

...Or Turkey will end up killing us all.
