Haiti is a very very different culture, economy, socio-religious tapestry compared to western culture, with a very unique history, and often beset with violence and the strong dominating the weak or exploitable. I hesitate to even start to apply Westernized/European psychology to it.

Mob mentality, cultural bias, and environmental conditioning. While I've no doubt the male mindset plays a heavier role in these types of incidents, I believe even intelligent people can fall prey to the three aforementioned variables. I'm sure we all have to some degree at some point. One could also argue that it's not unintelligent to be selfish and immoral in certain environments, merely dishonorable. But what is said to be honorable is subjective, and highly variable depending on the culture and environment with which you take context from. From my perspective, I see little honor in the actions of Haiti, or other recent events, but priority wise, Haiti matters, recent events do not. From a personal standpoint, neither concerns me that much. My daily concerns are not so broad, much closer to home, and limited mostly to the society that affects me and those I care about personally. I'm too old and filled with responsibilities to crusade.

I always assumed it was an SJ thing...though it's inexplicable how the gentleman bearing the name of a certain free-clinic infested San Francisco district and his minions managed to pull off such a perfect emulation. Not necessarily surprised that the urge would strike, mind you...just a bit disappointed to have to witness it manifest itself with such blind vigor in the virtual realm.

But then, ceding control of the real world over to SJ intellect was probably a really bad decision to begin with. Haiti and certain other nameless virtual identities would seem to confirm that there will be no logical worlds, virtual or tangible, for the foreseeable future.
