I'm going to be a senior in high school this year.

Recently, I became intrigued in pursuing pharmacology as a career option. However, up until about the 10th grade, I was set on becoming an artist, so I can't say I've taken more than the required science courses and absolutely no medical science classes.

I have two questions:

1.) Exactly how many years of schooling does becoming a pharmacist entail? I've read of anywhere between 6 to 10+ years and haven't had the time to talk to a local pharmacist yet. (I live in the US, by the way, and am not looking to be a supreme expert in the field or anything.)

2.) Of course, I have to ask the obligatory question: am I smart enough? I received a composite score of 31 on my ACT and a 2030 on my SAT.

Thank you very much. This is my very first time posting on INTP forum!

Why are you asking us? You should probably do some research into schools that offer pharmacology.

Oh, and, hello and welcome to the forums.

Sorry!

I've done quite a bit of "research" (Googling) into pharmacology and have found a pharmacology school nearby. I've gotten mixed results, however, and having been a lurker on INTP forum for quite some time, I felt it was about time to give you guys a try.

Silly me for thinking there might be a pharmacist or two on an online forum - like they have the time!

Seems to be around 6 years with normal schooling IIRC. There are accelerated programs as well if you're up for that stuff which will be around 3-4 years.
