Is that TV essentially is. Are you paying(the service provider) to be programmed by watching a screen that you can only pause, rewind and record. They have done many studies, even from our own government that TV can be used as form of mind control. Even the light waves flickering across the room seem to effect your brain somehow. Remember when you were a kid, and you walked downstairs to get some ice cream while your parents looked like zombies with the lights flashing back and forth from the walls. Seems like some form of brain corrupter whatever it is.

Why do you say "only" pause, rewind and record???
First off, changing the channel or turning the TV off is also an option. Secondly, the options you describe give a great reason why TV is NO LONGER controlling our minds as it once was.
I have chosen to stop paying for TV especially since the channels offered have been skewed to require a subscriber to pay more for certain packages when, back in the day, it was either, basic cable or basic + premium channels. Now they're dividing up the regular channels into certain packages which makes it more difficult to get all the channels you want without paying an arm and a leg. I currently watch TV via the internet and own a laptop and PS3. No more cable for me, thank you very much.

Should of made it clear that I'm talking about cable/dish paid TV. Watching shows, sports, and movies through other outlets is fine but when its through the PAID programming TV you get the effect I am speaking of. The constant advertisement and lack of options is still the norm for the majority of paid TV users. Fortunately, the future of TV and broadcasting looks better in that aspect since people like you, will start realizing the nature of TV and exploring other options of getting what they want. YouTube and the internet is definitely revolutionizing this area. I can see a decentralization of the entertainment industry in the near future, with Hollywood not being the entity that it has become. TV viewership as a whole, has also decreased.

I'm not sure about actual mind control, but television is a form of escapism, as is the internet, social media and other entertainment. Society is too busy consuming to take active issue with the government and corporate dealings.

I thought it was a well-known fact that TV is intellectually poor / full of bullshit?

Maybe search for the term "couch potato"

Well, anyway, recently proof / insider leaks have emerged about the nature of the media / journalism / TV news being very much constrained to certain pre-ordained viewpoints (in America). I really can't pick up a newspaper in England anymore without grinning and laughing to myself at how much it shows up our society as both being idiotic and failing to adapt to change. I mean the mindset of the people who are writing these things even, in itself.. lol.

Because of ads and other financial workarounds on the Internet, there's actually pretty much endless options of things to watch, like gamers streaming their video feeds all day, and youtube has channels that are moving closer to becoming round-the-clock. 4OD and others in the UK provide actual TV channels' show content on demand, legally, because they put ads in so it's essentially the same as normal scheduled TV but on-demand rather than whatever you happen to be able to catch. That's essentially a more ideal form of normal TV, although, you'd probably never get anyone professional admit that for a few decades..

I can't imagine the extent to which you can now stream TV and clips for absolutely free, which I haven't discovered yet. I even found a porn TV streaming channel once. Free TV, all day. But it wasn't legally licensed.

More is possible, as to *completely* free / effortless content creation. We will develop better ways to create 2d & 3d animated TV.. there are already plenty of videos of a certain software package on youtube. You give characters a script and they talk and it's animated.

It seems that regardless of your Television viewing patterns, you would still feel the effects/be programmed through your peers. The programming that exists is maintained through societal reenforcement- For example: During the recent Presidential elections people were programmed by the media to believe the challenges the USA faces were the only ones the news spoke of, but I noticed when one of my friends would discuss the bigger picture of the problems, those programmed individuals he spoke to would use insults, attacks, or even withdraw tactics which caused my friend to feel unsure about some of the things he said, or even drag him down to their level just to fit in.
