That is a good list. I had read 37 of them, and many of those books are among my all-time favorite books. (Then there are the ones I read for a class, that don't thrill me.) Most of the ones I haven't read are actually on our bookshelves, and I would guess my husband has read at least 80 of those titles.

I thought it was odd that there were two Discworld books listed separately, but Amber and Xanth had one listing each. And I wonder why Small Gods and Going Postal in particular? I think I'd have picked Jingo and Night Watch.

I remember loving Stranger in a Strange Land when I was in high school and college. Jubal was just so cool. I reread it a couple of years ago, and my tastes must have changed, because I found him annoying instead of cool. The book definitely belongs on the "Best" list, though.

EDIT: Oh, and where was H. Beam Piper?

17/100 (yeah, I suck). I agree with Trebuchet, it's a good list. Most of those I remember being fucking spectacular, and I can't think of any I didn't really like. There were a good number of others I've had on my mental to-do list for a while.

I was surprised the Thrawn Trilogy from Star Wars was on there. I read a ton of Star Wars/Star Trek novels as a kid, and remember that trilogy being leagues ahead of the others. Wasn't sure if I'd liked it so much just because I was like 10 years old or if it really was good. (Despite being on the list, I'm still a little skeptical.)

Also surprised the Night Watch books weren't included as well.

Anyway, *bookmarked*.

Disappointed that The Prince of Nothing is not on that list.

39! Woot!

Good selection. There's also maybe 5-10 books that I've started but aren't interested in finishing. (Red Mars, Dispossessed, etc.)

I think I'll order some books off of it.
