Your choice in Newspapers is shocking O.o
It sounds similar to Robme.com. I get why it was shut down.
If people are stupid enough to publically anounce that nobody will be in their house from Date A to Date B, quite frankly they deserve getting burgled. But, the information from the site was collected and distributed illegally.
That application is a violation of the Data Protection act in the UK. It's also another reason why you should be reserved about your identity online.

I think the app could be useful for people with memory problems and such. If people grew up with it, perhaps they could upload videos of them interacting with the people that are close to them to try to help remember. And if they couldn't remember them, maybe the app would provide a sort of cheat sheet to go off of.

I think... that any resulting action/argument/whatever against this app will be fairly irrelevant, because something like that is (to be honest) really not *that* hard to make. I'm not aware how Apple and the power to user-create apps and loads them secretly works, but I'm absolutely sure that since the idea is out, someone with the skill will make the app and start a black-market sale of them.
Tbh, loudly publicizing how stalkers can use this for bad purposes is only going to help get the word out to all the serial-stalkers that this is a good way to learn about someone.
