Elon Musk says his company Neuralink has placed an experimental brain device in a person in the first human test of the technology. Musk said the person receiving the implant was recovering well and that changes were noted in neuron activity in the patient’s brain.

Creating feedback loops between brain and the out side is what we already do.
Surgeons know how to remove the scalp and interact with the brain by touching directly the cortical surfaces.
Its clear that our neurons can indeed be "hacked". But not in term of control, rather you can create a connection a neural link.
This is not new.

The real question is what will happen when its done and how it will work.
Generally this tech has been and is being used for blind, death people as well as comatose people.

Question is in which way is Musk introducing this tech for it to be more meaningful than what we have.

Essentially you can create feedback loops anyway you like, even without technology - such as thinking, meditation, or exercise etc.
Brains can create any algorithms, basically anyway we want.

It's for blind people and it's pixelated, not a real image. There is no mind control hacking or anything like that. And the people that would want to take it don't really have a better alternative.

Maybe in the future metta will partner with nuerallink to connect people to the virtual/real world mergance where you can see a layer of virtual reality on top of the real world. But this is way way down the road.
