Post movie (and tv show) titles that are worth watching on Netflix.

God Bless America is an amazingly hilarious movie about everything that wrong with America, and is pretty much the only movie that I can comfortably recommend. Also, Red State is a really good movie. Sgt. Frog is a really funny anime show.

Not sure if it is still on there, but Freakonomics was really good.

Sooo many amazing flicks but to start, I'm going to regurgitate some of what I posted on the "Last Movie" thread recently:

The Parking Lot Movie and Winnebago Man (the documentary) for some lighter, more comedic viewing. Both provide a healthy dose of affirmation for the intelligent, underachieving misanthrope.

Buffalo '66 is also one of the funniest movies on Netflix.

A great film if you're into visual/historical irony:

The Atomic Cafe - "Disturbing collection of 1940s and 1950s United States government issued propaganda films designed to reassure Americans that the atomic bomb was not a threat to their safety" (IMDB).

A taste of the amazing music/editing:

And if you want more bomb era, check out Trinity & Beyond.

Let's hide under a picnic blanket! That'll save us from getting our faces melted!

Thanks for posting that.. I have this weird fascination with atomic bombs and 1950s propaganda films so this is a perfect blending of the two.

Is it in English? I think I recall looking at it but it wasn't in English (not that I don't like watching movies in a foreign language, but it's hard to surf the Web and still watch the movie).

Definitely check both films out! They are completely ridiculous.

I have the same fascination (more of an obsession, really). I was heartbroken after pecking out "S...O....V..." with an Xbox controller and having Netflix immediately shit on my dream of finding a Soviet propaganda art documentary.

Oh! These Amazing Shadows is a wonderful documentary on how films are selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It's unbelievable how much of the Silent Era was left to rot or intentionally destroyed by commercial studios.

I watched a clay-mation recently that I loved... Mary and Max. It's about a kid pen-palling with this 40-odd year old dude in New York. Quiet touching in a low level emotion sort of way. And I hate clay-mation... Plus Philip Seymour Hoffman voices the autistic dude whose characteristics are basically an extreme version of how I see my own characteristics.

If you want a break from the conspiracies and horror in the world, it's a good little flick.

I was kind of excited to see The Grey show up, as I wanted to watch it but haven't gotten to it. I think they still have Brick as well, which I need to finish... made by the same guy putting out Looper this weekend.

Also need to finish watch Battle Royale, which is like the Asian precursor to the Hunger Games; while it had that typical aura of Asian campiness to it, I find it rawer and more interesting than the movie version of Hunger Games (which was too polished and processed).

And for those into horror creep, Audition is currently available. That's in the top five movies I see listed with any discussion of unsettling horror flicks on forums nowadays, as in, "This'll blow your mind."

I just saw that the other week. Decent movie. It got a little too preachy in spots for me, but it was a worthwhile attempt and a bit amusing -- I thought the two leads were pretty believable, especially the girl (who was perky but whack).

I'm finishing watching "The Woman" and it's a sick psychological thriller(?). It's a good movie, but it's hard to watch...

The Grey and Ip Man(1and2) are really good and Breaking Bad(tvshow) if you haven't already.
