I'm redesigning a site and only write html and css but need an image viewer so will have to find something pre-written and free. I only want to show one frame at a time and have a scroll button on either side for "previous" and "next"

It doesn't need to get larger on hover.

Any suggestions?

Irfanview ?

I've been using it for years. Here's what the GUI looks like:

Irfanview is awesome.

The image viewer thingy that I need is script for a rolling gallery. Lots show thumbnails and the thumbnail will enlarge when you hover but I want, probably a javascript code snippet, that shows one main image in the frame with scroll buttons. Kind of like when you view an image on facebook with the arrow buttons on either side, but not in a new window.

I think the main ones are called "lightbox"

My halting point right now is that it seems I'll have to learn about jLibrary as well as installing the lightbox files. There is a support button on the lightbox site but my energy drained. Might investigate other css layout options using "onhover"

It wasn't jLibrary I needed, it was jQuery and it came bundled with Lightbox2.

I'm on my way!! :smoker:

up and running!
am I allowed to post a link? It would show what I'm trying to do. Originally I wanted the pics to appear in the main page box instead of a pop up but I created another cartoon to be the "cover page"

I could make the image links disappear by setting them up in a separate div with display:none but I think its kind of good to show how many toons there are.

You don't really know what I'm trying to do unless I link... so, noob decision:

^delete it if it should be gone

8 and 18 really made me laugh. It's pretty cool, I like it for the same reasons I liked Clerks(the first one).

13 11 14 19 were funny.

Sort that clicking issue.

When you click start here it seems to randomly hop through the comics. A front and back button would be nice.

My browser (chrome) shows the forward and back button except on the first frame which only goes forward, and the last frame which only goes back.

Which browser are you using?

WHOAA

Sorry about that, didn't actually notice the arrows (or did you just had them just now installed, my mind plays tricks!),

I am using Chrome too, but I have to move my mouse just a little before I can actually see the arrows.

So in my experience,

clicking on right hand side of the picture goes forward.

clicking on left hand side of the picture goes backward.

My suggestion just based on what I experienced. ( I have no experience as a web developer though so you can ignore it if you like)

clicking on the picture goes forward.

get the arrows outside of the picture.

Extra : put the number pages on the top or bottom

Strange, trying it now it seems way more user friendly somehow.

hehe. Glad it worked. They were there before but I had thought they didn't load until I moved my mouse to the magic hover spot by accident. I'd prefer if they remained visible. Might see if I can find a way to change that in the lightbox support forum... though I get mildly anxious every time I have to create another user account on another forum, as if it somehow thins my existence out. Like having too many "friends" :P
