I noticed there was some discussion over on the "about you" thead and so I thought why not just make a separate thread on the topic.

(Yes I am conceited, but I love it :D)

Conceited maybe. (So am I! :D)

But this does give an interesting perspective on discerning an individuals gender without any sensual clues. It may allow others to see the similarities between the two, and realize that the gender gap may not be quite as encompassing as they had imagined.

I say male by the way.

Male. But I've gotten some female vibes too.

*edit
You will tell us eventually right?

Way south.
The avatar seems to say male, but the "guess my gender" thing says female louder, so I'll go with female.

Asexuality is not a gender but a sexual orientation.

Physiology makes some creatures asexual, because they haven't got any defined gender, and they all reproduce from asexual reproduction. You've also gotta think about bacteria and plants. 'A' stands for absent of sex in asexual. A human can be genderless somehow, in theory.

Nab obviously reproduces by budding! He creates small replicas of himself that slowly grow out of the side of his ribcage. Nab himself can even remember when he was but a small budling, watching the world from 4 feet off the ground while his parent-host walked around.

Yeah, male. But a bit of a pansy. Like a good INTP. <3

If it's any consolation...I'm not straight (altough I don't look it) so that may be where most of you are getting the male/masculine vibes from.

This serves as a lesson for us INTP's. As independent-minded as we are, we still can succumb to gender stereotypes. (For the record, I never committed to pegging Naberus as a man:))

Naberus could be both, there is a medical term for it.
It has something to do with internal testicals.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

Just so you guys know.. "hermaphrodite" is somewhat offensive to the intersex community.

And I fucking hate that song.

^Why though? It is a real phenomenon and the term itself is not meant to be offensive.

ipdx.org said:
In biology, "hermaphrodite" means an organism that has both "male" and "female" sets of reproductive organs (like snails and earthworms). In humans, there are no actual "hermaphrodites" in this sense, although doctors have called people with intersex conditions "hermaphrodites" because intersex bodies do not neatly conform to what doctors define as the "normal" male or female bodies. We find the word "hermaphrodite" misleading, mythologizing, and stigmatizing. Although some intersex activists do reclaim and use this term to describe themselves, it is not an appropriate term to refer to intersex people in general. In short, snails are the hermaphrodites; humans are not.
Also, please avoid using the word "intersexual" as a noun; we prefer "intersex people" or "people with intersex conditions/experiences."

That link is a decent "101" for intersex etiquette, btw.

Midgets are awesome & funny,
Gays are fountains of relationship wisdom,
Lesbians are the best drinking partners,
and until people learn to stop being so touchy about these casual identifiers they will remain fixed with the idea that somehow they're a bad thing.

Like that southpark episode where the boys didn't know the image of a white person hanging a black person was racist because in their minds the white/black thing was irrelevant.

That said I respect people's right to refuse whatever identification they find offensive.
