im really bored right now but I am also curious,

what test should I take to really determine what type I am?

im truly wondering the accuracy of our answers to tests like mbti, do we take it like how we really are or how we wish we were. ideal vs real answers?

I wonder how if the 16 personality types can be broken down further into like 32+ personality types?

maybe im ksadfjkjiijejd675yintp^4

MBTI is just a classification system, the definition of a class is inescapably arbitrary or entirely dependant upon whatever purpose you're creating this classification system to serve, in the case of MBTI it was meant to sort women into career roles after WWII and in the decades after it became pop psychology, supposedly used by the corporate world but never really embraced by actual employers.

I think lots of people have wondered this. Unfortunately, from what I understand, the cognitive functions bit limits the options for expansion. I think you may have to settle for stages of personality maturity instead of subtypes.

i've noticed dark/light subtypes in some kinda way

always remain skeptical of typology no matter how deep you go. if you can't, it's a neurotoxin.

Why is this?
It's easier to administer, and it's more flexible. While it's based on MBTI temperaments, it doesn't focus on the technical aspects. It's assumed that we'll fluctuate a little from time to time, and addresses how a person operates in the "here and now". So, it's more practical information for employers.

One place I worked actually had us put our corresponding color stickers on our name badges. The only problem is that the "blue" people were picked on, and complained, so we had to take them off.

It is merely a model that can be built upon. Like how we have a model for the atom in chemistry every year, it's just updated. Socionics is updated MBTI. It's flawed, but great theories nonetheless. MBTI is more horoscopic though.

So I just took the free mbti exam on humanmetrics and I got INTP

BUT

and it scored me in percentage types, for thinking I got 1% lol, so it said I may have personality traits of other types like (infp):ahh:.

but I have low percentages for I, and N parts as well. HMMMMMMMMMM....

I tried to answer as honestly as I could. let me find another free test.

I was awake pondering this last night. I was thinking about the fact that MBTI theory posits that there are specific ways that the cognitive functions operate in relation to one another. For example, an INFP uses FiNeSiTe, and an INTP uses TiNeSiFe. What is to say that this has to be so? Is it possible that there are subtypes of INTP for example, who might use the first two functions, which gives them their basic INTPness, but they might have different tertiary and inferior functions. Would it be possible, instead of using TiNeSiFe, to use TiNeFiSe and still be INTP. Certainly that seems to be where Socionics has gone in accepting more in the way of subtypes. It would seem to go some way to explaining how there are so many people who believe that they are 'between' MBTI types, which always brings the MBTI orthodoxy into the debate.

And I might also add that I echo the sentiments of those who say avoid tests. I have been so caught up in tests that I got lost in it. Look at your cognitive functions. Work out which ones you use most. That will give you your type. It mightn't match MBTI exactly, but it will give you a place to start.

Sorry, its a bit of a bump. Resurrecting an old thread. But you seem confused so I want to help.

Tests aren't accurate. At all. In fact, if Ne is strong in you, you are probably questioning your type a lot.

Really, you can easily get your type yourself.
Simply.

Do you prefer introversion or extraversion
Do you prefer to discuss ideas or things of or related to sensory data
Thinking or feeling
Judging or perceiving.

MBTI is about what YOU prefer. If I say "you seem like an INFP." then that shouldn't be taken seriously, because I am telling what you seem like, not what it is you prefer. You can be strong at a function and not prefer it.

Taking an official MBTI test is about removing all of the bullshit associated with MBTI and cognitive functions, professionals won't tell you what they think you are, rather, they will ask which one you think you are.

I had your problem too, so if you have any questions then I am all ears.

Xbox, don't get too hung up on the typing. I've test INFP before. I think it's possible to have wandering preferences. It can't define who you are, just help you understand yourself a little better.

Edit: Oh good grief this thread is old. Sorry to pile on...

No if You want to take it seriously at all read up on the functions, then try and identity what they correspond through introspection then type yourself according to that. The tests turn an already rather abstract esoteric system into oversimplified crap with stupid vague questions. "I am shy when meeting new people" "I don't like finishing homework" even worse if yes no questions and not a gradient.

I hate those tests.
