Personally I wouldn't listen to music that desensitises me. General speedcore, extratone, grindcore and other headache inducing tunes.
Repetitive bursts of energy that have little to do with music and attack my general well-being.

Example:

Distances in what way? Almost any kind in the preferred direction before setting the music.

I tend to find that my mood defines the pull or push of music more than the music itself. I've got songs/bands/genres that I favour over others, but my favourite songs can sound boring and forced if I'm in the wrong state of mind.

I would point towards many classical pieces.

Gregorian chants are relatively monotonous.

Fugues.

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 1st movement is pretty neutral in terms of emotion.

Nothing from the romantic era. Baroque was almost strictly religious, but it's so ambiguous in terms of emotion you don't feel much.

Shulman, Biosphere, Echaskech, Digitonal, Zero 7.

I tend to feel, 'blank' when I listen to these. It's a nice feeling of serenity.

To be honest though I'm not sure what you mean by distances/numbs. Do you mean as a good or a bad thing?

Only familiar with Zero 7 and love some of their stuff. You might be interested in Yo La Tango's "Let's Be Still" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxg6XyFKqHo
I don't like much of Lamb but "Angelica" is gorgeous https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JJMAhK5GWg

This. I never actually thought about it like this or even noticed it until one day i decided i need to really get closer to my emotions. (Sounds kind of corny.) Now i tend to base everything i do entertainment wise on how i feel. And it really makes everything i listen to and watch 100x better. Plus it brings up the lagging emotional side of my personality.

I like many of the northern European contemporary Jazz artists. I often buy music from the record label ECM which has a great selection.

I find many classical pieces to have a similar effect, particularly some Bach pieces as they seem more concerned with patterns than emotional effect (Bach is one of my favourite composers). I find most of Bach's pieces to be quite removed emotionally even if there is an inherent spiritual theme, which is how I prefer religious ideas expressed anyway. I'm particularly drawn to Laurence Dreyfus' interpretations.

Gregorian chants, liturgical songs, Hildegard Von Bingen, and many other medieval pieces.

I agree with Biosphere, Digitonal, Shulman, Zero 7. I also like many Trip-Hop artists and other bands/artist from the Manchester era.

And this:

Those politicians and their obnoxious "adaptations" of pop songs during election season. They blast their music online, in mass media and in motorcades.

For example: Imagine Frozen's "Let it Go" but replace the lyrics and make it about how awesome a candidate is and how s/he can alleviate poverty or something.
