Mirror Test Fails

My google-fu is failing me.
Has there ever been a case of an adult failing to pass the mirror test? I don't see how they could function in society but people are able to function without an inner voice or a minds eye so what do I know?

When I was withdrawing from the marijuana, at about week 2 I woke up one day and went throughout my day feeling weird as hell.

I came home a looked in the mirror and I felt like I was looking at a stranger. Cognitively knew it was me, but it felt like someone else.

This is called a dissociative episode.

Other than similar stuff to that, people that don't pass the mirror test aren't functioning in society.

I am pretty sure my full consciousness did not come online until further in life, somewhere around age between 6 to 12, not sure when exactly I became fully conscious of self.
However knowing that there is relationship between my finger touching my nose in the mirror is not the same as self awareness.
There are layers to self awareness.

For example you ever been mocked, but you did not realize it?
Its not like you failed mirror test, but we often fail to recognize stuff about ourselves.
