I don't really think it's Forer so much as... Well... Sort of. I guess it's just that it's not really giving you much more than a stereotype. It's not making any predictions, it's just a list of all the possibilities they could think of at the time. Anyone could make this list, furthermore, you could probably remove the typology completely without sacrificing any content by writing a macro substituting 'INTP' for 'nerd'.

Also... I'm not any of these.

I'm far more interested in quality over quantity. but whilst searching for quality, meaningless sex is better than masterbating. I'm not a 1 night stand douchbag, I've had 1 one night stand in my life.

I'm on the fence on this one. part of me agrees with hado. the other part thinks cynical realist fits a bit too well.

I love everybody's automatic negative reaction to this. Not that I disagree. It is complete bullshit.

Yet I still had a sudden irrational surge of horror. I...I think I might be some slightly less sex oriented version of #5.

It's not unlike how horoscopes work or getting you fortune told. Make the description broad enough or even better provide 5 different broad descriptions and everybody is bound to find some small part of themselves. It's not terribly insightful is it?

None, I could find something to identify in a well written horoscope that relies on similar generalisations and even at times find that it works in reality. Call it forer effect or something else, but the same goes for the entire MBTI which may help you think about yourself from different perspectives as well as about others and come to see how there can be acceptance and more depth to what you entail.

After all psychology isn't going to achieve what seems to be determined to come by a hard scientific neurobiology.

No words cast in the dark have credible enough chance, to gamble that these could in any practical way describe you more precisely than you yourself or someone else can come to observe in you by avoiding disinformation and preference.

One might delude and believe in a horoscope as one may in another wall of descriptive loosely assembled and undefined terms.

You said it better than I could have hoped to. MBTI is a tool for better understanding ourselves but it is only a tool and only good for certain applications.

I can't tell... is everyone being sarcastic, or are people actually taking this seriously? Types 1-4 are losers and fuck ups. Type 5 is the greatest person that ever lived and a victim of everyone else's stupidity (after all, how could the greatest person on earth ever be at fault for anything?). Oh, and he or she gets laid constantly, so much that the author of this list found it necessary to allude to the cynical realist's sexual diarrhea five separate times. And how about that! Everyone just happens to relate to the one subtype that isn't a steaming turd. What a crazy coincidence!
