I enjoy the Religion and Philosophy posts. I really do. However...

Something needs to be done to allow/encourage more science threads.

I think that something should be creating a science catagory where Philosophy and Religion threads are not posted.

Mostly, I would enjoy a discussion with my fellow intps about physics, chemistry, and biology topics, without having to muddle through vast amounts of postings about other topics.

The catagory is too broad.

Aahh. The lumpers and splitters debate. Always a hotly contested topic in the realms of classification.

I'm for fewer categories, hence them being lumped. The overlap between science and philosophy and religion is large. I feel to make them discreet does no justice to their connectedness - though for sure many topics may be handled in isolation it could give a limited picture. Given the way our minds wander I think it wouldn't work to attempt a philosophy/religion-free science zone, would cripple some potentially interesting discussions and leave many others with no proper home because they cross the boundaries.

The technology section however could serve very well for that type of discussion you're looking for, and is relatively underutilised.

No, your opinion has weight. You're only incapable of doing anything directly.

The only problem I was having was finding things about chemistry, physics, biology that didn't have a technology or religious component. I think that this situation is perpetuated by the large number of philosophy/religion threads already dominating the science/philosophy/religion section, and so, through some strange subconscious peer pressure, people post mostly more philosophy/religion things because they go to the thread, see the other posts, and say, "oh...so this thread is about religion and philosophy, so I'll post some about religion or philosophy".

I personally do like drifting from one topic to another, so I guess having it as one thread is a good thing. And, also, I realize that if I wanted to add more science posts to it, I can post some myself and get something going. Will be looking up somthing soon...but have waaaay too many exams to study for right now (exams = evil).

If anybody else has some nice science stories / questions / interests / etc...post it in the science and philosophy and religion thread! R(evolution).
