I'm guessing the best way is to learn programming or some other skill that doesn't require physically being in any particular place.

Approximately 99.99% of ways of making money online are either scams or pyramid schemes.

Programming is always a very useful skill, and it can be quite lucrative. I highly recommend devoting the time to learn it.

Using the internet as a means of advertising your product or services is a legitimate means of earning money off it. And as Amagi82 said, methods on making money solely online is probably a scam or illegal.

Programming is a good skill and the swift changes affecting it will always keep you on your toes.

I had a little thing once where I got payed by one of those gamer sites to write short descriptions of each of their idiotic games. I didn't get much money out of it, but it was enough to buy Christmas presents to my family and friends. I have no idea who the person I was working for was- never even seen a picture of him/her. I did the work and he/she paid me via internet.

I tried to do this several times in the past. A website that has a tutorial is http://www.challenge.co/?ref=default. Can't guarantee you'll make money and even less likely that you'll break even. It shows you the tips to getting ahead in the search engine race and stuff like that.

Online marketing. Sell useless crap on the internet, to people who think the stuff isn't useless crap.

I don't really have any marketable skills, unless you know somebody who'll buy rants. I'm trying to develop my poker skills so I can perhaps make some money that way but it's undoubtedly more practical to learn Java and / or some other programming language. Or I could try out writing articles for sites, but my attention span makes writing coherently difficult sometimes.
