Annimekitty's prediction:

EEGs will cerate a 3D model of the brain in real time. This will allow users to target area for improved meditation with visual/auditory feedback.

Wifi glasses will be directly connected to home servers to store personal data or will access local servers. DVDs/movie theaters will completely be replaced by such servers. We will be able to tap into any public camera and with specific algorithms simulate x-ray vision.

Hard drives will act more like RAM. GPUs will take advantage of optical transistors.

I'd be horribly upset of my hard-drive wiped itself upon every system restart like RAM does :(

In four year? I'm guessing the same old story. :storks:

EDIT: Also, computer engineers are working on integrating electromechanical substances into processors to increase performance last I have checked. This makes me happy.

Governments will continue to fall like dominos. Obama will be declared world king, and grow a mustache.

I was thinking more of an SSD that was as fast as RAM but mensurable in terabytes.

Some celebrity somewhere will do something stupid, and some people will care enough about it to bother me over it, and it will be annoying. Very, very, annoying.

INTPs will get off our butts and attempt to take over the world, but midway into the takeover, after determining that we really could if we wanted to, we'll decide that it isn't worth the bother and return to our usual lives.

Governments will continue to fall like dominos. Obama will be declared world king, and grow a mustache.

We talking Hitler mustache, Stalin mustache, or 70's sexy black man mustache?

My input? well, looking at what has happened in the last 4 years.......

1. The movie industry continues to make terrible movies in a ratio somewhere around 20 terrible movies to every 1 good movie.
2. Colleges become extremely expensive, so much so that people cry to the government to step in.
3. There is another genocide in a country in Africa.
4. Japan eats all the whales, then the U.N. forms a council to determine whether or not a council should be formed to decide whether or not Japan's actions warrant a harsh finger wag.
5. The British/European parliament continues to be the best & funniest thing to watch on television. YouTube- UKIP Leader Nigel Farage Has Meltdown In European Parliament
6. California burns down again, and another hurricane hits the SE United States.

oh, no I'm not living in Europe right now. I just watch their parliament because it is entertaining. half the people in their are frustrated & don't really give a dam because they realize they basically do NOTHING, and the other half are crusty old men who like to form councils and think things over for a few years. When the young ones lose it, the faces of the old crusty men is priceless.

This is INTP forums, you aren't going to find any idiotic prophecies here.

As for what will really happen in 4 years, I'd rather make predictions ten years from now, in 2020. Four years from now, not much will be different. Ten years from now, the world will be a completely different place.
I might as well, though. Some of these predictions are bold, but I'll go ahead and make them.
2014:
- The majority of people own a tablet PC (50% or more). (This will happen regardless of how the Ipad fares. There are plenty of alternatives to the Ipad, ranging from a $150 piece of junk from Dell to a $1000 "Look at me! I'm rich!" tablet from Lenovo. And in 4 years, they will be much better than they are today)
- Most people own a smartphone (75% or more).
- Free wifi everywhere in cities. Possibly on major highways, also. (For example, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire interstate highway system gets free wifi. 2014 might be too soon for that, but it might not. It's a definite maybe)
- Windows 8
- 4G (I don't think there will be a 5G - 5G will be Wifi)
- Virgin Galactic replacing space shuttles. (2014 is too soon for the moon - wait until 2020 or 2025)
- Cures for some genetic diseases. (Possibly some forms of cancer. I'm going to avoid making too many cures predictions because that's less predictable)
- Rise in oil and gasoline prices, along with rise in renewable energy use. Probably passing peak oil, if we haven't already.
- LHC will make some discoveries, assuming it works. (Which it should - many of the problems have been dealt with.)
- Major innovations in web browsing technologies - in 2006, nobody had heard of Firefox (If it even existed then - I don't know the exact timeline) and we were stuck with IE 6.
- DVDs obsolete - or at least reduced to the status CDs hold now - good for some purposes, such as small media storage, but not for much more than that. In 2004, games came on 6 CDs. In 2014, a game might take up 10 DVDs, if they're even released on DVD
- No, you won't have Blu-Ray replacing DVDs. USB sticks, SD cards and the internet will have replaced them.
- Hard drives measured in terabytes, 16 GB of RAM common
No, it's not all optimistic:
- China will continue to censor the internet.
- Internet censorship in general will rise - governments can't stay out of anything that important
- Global climate change will continue
I can't think of any more right now, since I'm going to eat dinner in a few minutes, but I'm sure there's more that I can think of.

EDIT: More terrorism, because the US will be out of Afghanistan (hopefully) by then. You can expect a major attack sometime between now and 2014.

I would like to take this moment to disappoint you when you said that there would be no idiotic prophecies. There will be no 2014 because December 21, 2012 will be the end of the world and all of us will die.

I'm guessing there will be LCD glasses that you can watch videos with. The technology already exists. There's just a matter of scaling it down a bit.

Also, i think there will be a new highway going through Trondheim in Norway:)

Between 2010 and 2014, there will be many systems failing, many governments falling, and many economies collapsing. This will cause major civil unrest which will cause more bad things to happen. There will then be a catch-22 until the whole world descends into a state of anarchy, in which case civil unrest will calm down and give way to many factions and regimes fighting each other for power. Then a few regimes will win over the others and establish totalitarian states. The US will still likely remain in anarchy during this time, though there will be factions warring there as well and many other factions are looking at the US eagerly. At the establishment of totalitarian regimes, there will be more civil unrest, but leaders will use their armies to silence or kill anyone speaking against them. There will be massive censoring, rewriting of history, propaganda, and control. Anyone who is willing to fight for freedom will be destroyed. A few countries in Europe still exist in loose republics which were created to counteract the totalitarian regimes, but they are too busy bickering amongst themselves and arguing about how the states should be governed to try to free themselves from impending tyranny.

Meanwhile, the US is divided into two distinctive groups, those who want to organize a totalitarian regime on a temporary basis so that the government will be powerful enough to destroy the totalitarians in Europe, located primarily in the north, and those who see this as a bad idea, a slippery slope, and want to form into another democracy and end the anarchy and civil unrest among their people, located primarily in the south.

Many realize that an impending war, reminiscent of the Civil War, is breaking out between north and south, and though no war has been officially declared yet, atrocities have been committed to the opposing side within one sides borders because of a lack of government.

Back in Europe, the republics fall to the totalitarians and then fight amongst each other. Once one totalitarian regime rules, they turn their eyes to America.

By this time in America, a second Civil War has taken place and the north won again, primarily because their government was more rigid under a totalitarian regime. They then go on to conquer all of North and South America while the regime in Europe conquers all of Europe and Asia. The two sides are on the brink of war.

And that's what it will be like by 2014.

INTP's aren't just stuck in the here and now. They can use their extensive logical capabilities along with gathered knowledge to infer somewhat accurately what will happen within a reasonable period of time. Albeit, four years isn't really a reasonable period of time.

Why 2014 anyways? Seriously, no one asked before? Why not 2020?

Ok ok... in 2014, hopefully, we'll be seeing the first cyborgs, seeing as our robotics are improving incredibly and we already have freaking game controllers that read brain waves.
Before we know it, this will be everywhere:

[BIMG]http://i41.tinypic.com/5pomsk.jpg[/BIMG]

I will also have started studying and working towards a few projects, such as creating warp drives, because spaceships are awesome.

Or maybe I'll just get bored and destroy the world.

Faster and smaller computers, maybe a new vaccine for flu or something. A small hand-held device will be ridiculously popular and ridiculously common in the US and Europe. The US will have a flashback to the mid/late 90's fashion-wise and musically. Maybe tecno/rap with light grunge influences? I second the 'hopefully I'll be dead' sentiment.

Somehow time will reverse and space will distort, so we'll find ourselves on a huge farm in the middle of 1984, Mr. Orvel watching us, crying, wondering whether if he never started writing, pigs wouldn't be ruling the world.

Hardly. I don't care how "logical" you are (which really wouldn't be the right term in this context) or even how strong your intuition is, guessing anything regarding years in the future comes down to a roll of the dice. Hell, professionals can't even guess the future of their own fields. As Anthile said, the only surety is that we will be 4 years older.
