I was wondering how you guys feel about telling a lie, do you feel guilty/uneasy, or do you do it without any trouble.

Also how good are you at lying, have any of your lies ever fallen through, and was exposed. Do you think a lie through before you say it and plan, or do you just say f*** it and go for it.

PS: Engrish(on purpose) isn't my first language I tried to grammar as best I could. I thought about answering these questions myself, but there's no need I want to know what you guys think.

What kind of lie? If it's a story I tell I know it is or isn't true. It doesn't matter whether it is realistic or not. A story tells a truth in one way even though it violates the way some things may be. I just hope people get it.

I am not asking about making up stories or changing them, then passing them off as real, but about common lies that you tell people, friends and family. Whether they be big or small or do you feel guilt depending on the importance of a lie. Let's say for example you did something your not supposed to, ate or broke something that belongs to someone else. Will you lie even if the repercussions are very tiny. On the other hand would you lie about something big and try and cover up whatever you did(am not talking murder big here). Also what is your automatic reaction when asked to answer a question tell the truth or lie.

I lie about anything to get out of the simplest things without feeling guilt, I sometime lie when I don't have to, but I don't tell risky lies that can be exposed. I asses on the spot lies to decide what to do, and prefer to examine lies I plan to tell. My automatic reaction when faced with a question is to check if I can lie if I can't I tell the truth that's what I mean by automatic response.

PS: I probably won't read this reply if posted by someone else but I AM a lazy bastard I made it as short as I can so thanks if you read it all.

I don't usually lie about small things. Probably because I don't see the point.
When I do want to lie about something, I prefer to think things through; to think of most relevant details and when lying- to provide as few details as possible.

I do like a lie made out of (literal) truth(s), but I don't think I am a good liar.

I much more easily perform lies of omission -- just let someone think what they're already thinking, without bothering to correct them -- than bald-face lying. I can actually do the latter, but I hate hate hate it, and yes, I would experience guilt in that situation... not just guilt but almost like a magnetic aversion to it.

Usually if I let lies of omission occur, it's to avoid pointless conflict/disruption. i.e., lesser of two evils.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

This.

I also occasionally nudge the facts in my favor when I am talking to people who don't bother to fact check. If there is a basis in truth, I can claim ignorance and say I was mistaken if caught. Same thing with omission. I get pegged as an airhead when I get caught repeatedly doing this, which I am fine with, because it allows me to keep a lower profile. It goes along well with my regular personality of being oblivious to the real world because I am so stuck in my head anyways. Let them think what they will, they will leave me alone and I will keep doing my own thing.

I hate boldface, and really don't do it. It causes so much guilt, and haunts me. The last thing I need is another thing in my head nagging me.

I laughed at the part I'm underlined, but yeah -- basically cultivating an image simply to keep people out of our stuff/business. If misperceptions happens and suit our purposes, then whatever, right?

(Although for me personally... I have the SX/sp variant going, so allowing too divergent an image to proliferate about myself leaves me feeling anonymous or misunderstood, which runs against the SX "know and be known" bent. :ahh:)

I do whatever I have to and say whatever is necessary if at all I have to. It's a question of what is real. If I can't be real I'm going to be uncomfortable and sad. If I'm asked if someone looks pretty I can tell them they look fine. That's good enough. They are not going to press me.

This hits home. Hate & am not good at lying, yet omission or a non correction of something I don't agree with seems equivalent...
The kicker being, like you've stated, pointless conflict or disruption is even worse & more irrelevant.

I always calculate if everyone believe to my lie. When there aren't dangers like someone can find the truth, I feel normal. But I feel guilty and bad, when someone can find out that I lied. If I know that slower or faster someone find out the truth, I prefer to tell truth at once.

I try not to lie about anything that could hurt someone. That said, I generally believe what people don't know won't hurt them.

Anyhow, I have never had trouble lying - you just think of something that did happen and adjust the timing..

Late to work? Ok.. what is something that happened recently that might make me late... Oh my pipe burst! That happened 4 months ago perfect. So I just tell my boss about how my pipe burst giving 100% accurate details since it really did happen...

nevermind the timing :p
