when you are a n00b and simply curious, the commonly known tricks are most likely to work a couple of times. when your dreamland has taught you to fear it, it becomes more complicated.
it's about intention or motivation. it's very relative to your own world/self-view. what is your latest fancy theory about the meaning of dreamland? and what is actually your deepest comprehension of the meaning of dream land? do you want to be conscious of either of those two possibilities? to which degree do you understand and accept, that staying conscious to them will eventually have an altering effect on who you are in real life? these questions are variables that are changing over time, as you become more experienced. sometimes there is a match of expectation and desire and then dreaming will almost certainly become lucid.
to induce a WILD, you may have a better chance in the middle of the night, or in the morning, when you go back to sleep.
i found that meditating during the day, even early in the morning, will enhance my chances of lucidity in the following night. perhaps correlation, not causation. such a mediation might mark a day, that i have spent more consciously. it's one of those worldview variables. do you take your subtle mind with you, through the day, considering it to be a part of you, an organ that may be "muted" but still active during the day, or do you think of it as an event, that occurs during night, while "you" are "not there"....
