Hello INTP's, my name is Hannah, hence the username. I got it in a game of scrabble where everyone was supposed to choose a rapper alter-ego to keep score with.
I found out I was an INTP about a year and a half ago, after a long bout of depression. Previous to that I tested as INFP......which in part I think is because I was raised by an extremely 'feely' mother, and was taught that solving problems and perceiving things emotionally was normal. That's a trend I've seen quite a bit on here, actually. The tendency of MBTI results to be scewed because one is surrounded by conflicting personalities.
After the two year depression stint, I went through a lot of self analysis and realized that I was in denial and that my true personality was very different from my family and friends. I also immediately concluded that there's nothing wrong with that.
I've lurked on here for quite a while, just to see what like minded people felt about the issues of the world, pop culture, etc. and have been generally pleases by (most) everything I've read. It's human nature to feel most comforted by people and ideas that are the same as you(r's).

Anyways, hello, I'm here, nice to ....meet you all.

Hello Hannah,

You must hear this all the time, you bear a striking resemblance to William Dafoe.

I don't know that it's that the results are skewed. I think, rather, that this is just the way things are. We're all raised in goofy ways, we all are amalgams of types, etc. But, before I go on... Welcome.
After the two year depression stint, I went through a lot of self analysis and realized that I was in denial and that my true personality was very different from my family and friends. I also immediately concluded that there's nothing wrong with that.
I've gone down the dark tunnel of depression (and helped a lot of others through their own). Glad you're still around.

Hi. Glad you are here. Just to compare, it's over twelve years ago I joined a bulletin board (they didn't call it a forum). Can't recall how long I lurked but was nervous and excited about posting. I assumed posting would be far different from lurking because posting meant I'd have a strong emotional reaction over just reading. Came true. I posted something rational and got flamed. He was testing me. I totally ignored the flame and continued on. Eventually I got some respect from those who were rational but that didn't last long. Unlike this board, the emotionals came on. That was food for rational responses but the emotional didn't like my views. More flaming. I continued on until I found other things to do.

My recommendation is to go with the flow. Post something to your liking. See where it goes and if you want to continue. Who knows? You may hit on something.
