Their has obviously been a thread like this before, no doubt about it. However, I'm very interested to see the ratio personally, and I don't know where said hypothetical thread is.

Additionally, if you could post a small description of your personality along with your dominant hand (or right/left brain dominant, really), I would really love that.

Basically, I want to see if their is any correlation between the two.

For example, my own personality.

I personally am left-handed and would probably be considered a more emotional INTP. I've always been told I'm very empathetic, but I'm also very obviously an INTP. In addition, I'm quite social, an artist, and I like to sing. I do very well in school but it stresses me out quite a bit. I'm very very introverted despite a large crowd of friends and spend most of my days playing video games or randomly researching things I find interesting.

Thanks.

right handed

personality: I let my fingernails grow. they are very strong. wet bits of skin from scratching my head turn black under my fingernails, i clean almost daily but i can't keep up. it's sensitive hands, neither long nor wide, perfect compromise. my ringfinger is longer than my index finger. i play with my fingers a lot, when my armes hang down, to keep them awake, so i am always ready to pull. hope that helps.

Right-handed. People tell me I'm stubborn, smart, conscientious*, the Grey Man, quiet, agreeable, cautious, scary, and weird.

*Which is hilarious because I'm not.

It depends. I write with my right hand, but am lefty at various sports such as baseball (batting), hockey, and snowboarding. I am not ambidextrous.

My personality, I'd have to say I'm going through a self-discovery process at the moment. At my work environment, I'm very quiet but when I do talk it's usually very witty (being the quiet one with most people I'm sure is part of the humor). I'm very stubborn when I think I'm right. People say I'm smart and a good listener. I'm easy going (mostly), but choosy with who I open up to. I have a tendency to be impulsive but I think I'm improving.

BTW, just so you know, it's *there*, not *their* (their is possessive) I'm not a grammar nazi, just trying to help out, lol.

I'm now right-handed, but I discovered in my 30's that I actually had been left-handed and my parents and teachers kept forcing me to write with my right hand.

...My penmanship sucks regardless.

Same thing happened to me. :ahh:

I picked up some main use again with my left when I acquired a long term injury to my right wrist. Now I ambidextrous-ish, my preferences depending on the activity.

Lefty prejudice is so odd.

I personally find digit ratio more interesting than handedness though.

Yeah, I think nowadays most people don't care. Back then, it was a horrible "improper" situation. I do play the piano, so I've retained skills with my left hand, but I can't throw with my left arm or write with it.

Yeah, testosterone levels in utero basically can adjust digit lengths ratio... which potentially could have other effects. (Male ring fingers tend to be longer than female in comparison, by a consistent ratio.)

What are you Jenny?
I have a studly ratio. :smoker:

Oh, I see. ;)

.... mine are the same length as each other, same for both hands. Pretty non-shocking.
So I'm essentially ambifingerous.

Right-handed
Somewhat emotional/open xNTP.

I've noticed I have a little more dexterity with my non-dominant (left) hand than others, but I think this could be because of piano playing. I also wonder whether it may have developed the F and Ne side of me, through developing physical control over the left side (which iirc is controlled by the right hemisphere), as both increased over time. My guess is that there's very little connection but it's fun to think about.

Right-handed and my ring finger is almost 2cm longer than my index on both hands. That means I have 2cm more room for wedding rings, so I've been buying Russian wives to make use of the real estate.

Yeah what the hell kind of fingers are those?

*edit
Hang on hang on, Americaniz(s!s!)ation may have confused me. Almost 2cm isn't 2cm, and 2cm isn't an inch, and an inch is what is large (I live amongst pygmies), so now I don't know whether that's a big difference or not.

Leave my warped fingers and their disproportionate ratios alone!

@cheese an inch is 2.5cm and when I say almost 2cm I mean 1.98cm. Does that help?

Also say hi to the pygmies for me.

I'm right handed, I think.

I am incredibly bad at telling my right from left. Just when I think I have it down, I question myself and get even more confused. I accidentally chose "left" on the pole. Sorry.

Anyway, I'm an INTP but these are my deviations from the party line:
-I can be as practical, organized, and goal-oriented as necessary to "get the job done".
-I dislike just about everybody, but I'm also very shy of conflict, so I'm "nice", which makes me seem amiable, if a bit [lot] awkward.
-I don't experience angry outbursts/adult tantrums which, according to another thread, are normal for INTPs
-I fight the urge to jump all over every wrong, illogical, or oversimplified statement I come across, but I don't know why because then, they swim in my head and they consume me. This forum is going to be the death of me, by the way (no offense).

I have developed some of that later in life and can be very productive if I have a very defined goal (coupled with my "blitz" approach). It's pragmatic for me: If I know what the goal is and that it has to get done, then just do it.

-I dislike just about everybody, but I'm also very shy of conflict, so I'm "nice", which makes me seem amiable, if a bit [lot] awkward.

hahaha! But ... i thought you wanted to marry me because you liked me. Wait. no. It was for the dishes.

Anyway, seriously, I hate conflict too and am typically overnice.
I don't know why I go into bitch mode on this forum in particular sometimes.
The directness of some my posts here kind of blow my mind.
I guess it's because of the natural distance between me and the people I'm talking to.

This forum is going to be the death of me, by the way (no offense).

I'm right handed

- I like other people's company from time to time.
- I probably show more emotion than the stereotypical INTP. However, it is almost never anger. I don't feel it much.

Others describe me as quiet, intellectual, " miss-I-know-everything " but they also say I'm weird and unpredictable.

That's it for me, exactly. That, and no one here can beat you up or socially/professionally sabotage you or anything if they dislike you. Though, I still try to be nice-ish because you're all real people/robots/anime characters with real feelings/emotional algorithms.

"Hmmm... for baby brownies, they mentioned adding an egg on the packaging, but isn't there supposed to be a sperm or something?" <-- Jenny is bad in the kitchen.

yes, you wouldn't want us to shoot you with our palm lasers due to an some easily avoidable "Frustration" branching code.

I'm left handed. In Grade one they sat all the lefties in one row and tried to make us change but didn't work for me. My parents were both right handed and had a hard time dealing with my left handed problems. My father had to get a left handed friend to teach me how to tie my shoes and people still laugh at the way I do it.

I'm very logical, good with numbers and problem solving. I like things that challenge me and get satisfaction from solving the problem. I dislike false praise and only appreciate compliments from those who understand the degree of effort / complexity required (mostly other NT's)

I'm open minded, and when I concentrate on a problem block out most everything else. A boss once told me I was rude because I didn't acknowledge co-workers good morning greetings. I was so involved in my work that I did not hear them so had to make an effort after that to wait until most people were in before getting involved with my work. Although I enjoy some sports I am clumsy and not very co-ordinated at most. I love music and have over 900 CD's but am tone deaf so only sing when I am alone.

Another question for fellow INTP's -- What blood type are you? I'm AB so least common blood type, least common personality type (and a female to boot) and left handed which is only about 20%. No wonder a lot of people think I am odd.

Left dominant ambidextrous.
Left eye dominant.

Some larger movements are dominant right:
(guitar, throw, catch, hit, kick, step off, put on pants/shoes, pointing)

More fine tuned movements are dominant left:
(writing, eating, drawing, brushing teeth, "wiping" ;))
But I can also do these if I thought to do it with my right.

Some things are shared:
(stirring, random hand movements, ASL when i tried learning but i was frustrated because being ambidextrous made it hard)

Also Left handed INTP, who yesssss ok fine, more emotional/empathic than most guys/INTPs I guess.
I'm also more the "artistic" INTP variety.

and Enneagram Type 8w7 though,
so inner conflict would be an understatement.

To use your post as template:

School: By year 9 went to top set/class without trying-easy.

Used to be extrovert/social in school. Class clown, always in trouble.

Did want to sing classical music, but that ship has sailed. (voice acting might be replacement)

Introverted now, but I think that might be an unintentionally learned behaviour when I shut myself off from the world so I could deal with everything (past/future).

*high five*
