Many people have been wondering about this all over the net, so I was wondering what the rest of you thought about it. Do you guys think this song may somewhat loosely describe an INTJ or INTP?

"You're not like the others - futuristic lover"
"Different DNA - they don't understand you"
"You're from a whole other world, a different dimension, you open my eyes
I'm ready to go, lead me into the light"

Desperation? Asking a question out of curiosity does not at all imply "desperation." I'm completely indifferent as to whether or not this song may loosely coincide with the traits of INTJs and/or INTPs.

So if you have an opinion concerning the topic of the thread, I'd love to hear it. If not, you're basically trolling.

We're not that special... I don't really think Katy Perry has consciously written lyrics about an INTP/INTJ, maybe she doesn't even know about MBTI(likely)

These are just generic love song lyrics. Everybody thinks the one they're in love with is special. And they are, in a sense. But only special to the people who love them.

Indeed. But even if she (and other co-authors of the song) didn't "consciously" write the lyrics with an INTJ/INTP in mind, can the lyrics still fit the overall psychological disposition of these types (who are often very isolated, individualistic sort of futuristic-minded people)?

I've read many times that many INTJs, in particular, tend to feel like aliens from another world, because no one really understands them.

These are just generic love song lyrics. Everybody thinks the one they're in love with is special. And they are, in a sense. But only special to the people who love them.

Perhaps. Although, there is special attention paid to how eccentric or "out of this world" the person seems to be. Certainly many people in love think the person they're with is "special," but do they also necessarily think they're extraterrestrial (metaphorically speaking)?

One can easily gloss over a song, especially one partially written by Katy Perry, LOL. But with enough critical thinking, some significant patterns may exist which were not previously noticed.

Haha, yeah, I guess.

I do find I'm attracted to girls that are hard to understand, yet not weird and unattractive, if you know what I mean. Most of my friends don't think the girls I like are unattractive, but they never really are attracted by them either. Seems like the person in the song has the same thing.

Sounds more like Elliot describing E.T.

Well, it's just a highly speculative curiosity. Any and all viewpoints are welcome.

Philosophyking: Intuitives in general make up about 25% of the population. They could all be described as different or from somewhere else. I think you would need to widen the bracket to include ENFPs, INFJs and INFPs. Not ENFJs as with a dominant Fe they are less different.

The lyrics are too general for it to be associated with any particular type.

Good point. I would say it fits the Ni Doms best: INFJ or INTJ. Both types are often regarded as "aliens." Moreover, Introverted Intuition is often understood as some mystical, spooky function that results in prophets, predictions, psychic ability, or other sorts of unnatural visions that are quite uncommon to most people.

Ultimately, songs about "very odd people" could indeed fit many intuitive types, though I would say the Ni Doms more so. I've seen so many reports and descriptions about INFJs and INTJs that revolve around the idea that they are very "misunderstood," "feel like aliens," or otherwise "seem out of this world and very off-beat," but in the sense of being truly difficult to understand as opposed to merely eccentric (which is what I'd say of Ne Doms).
