Good God - I hate being the center of attention - I've beeen skipping out of my birthday parties since I've been 12 or so.

I have plenty of friends, but do the usual INTP thing of having a few close ones, etc.

I have never. ever, thrown a party, invited people over my house, except my various girlfriends, and the three other guys in my band.

I would suspect that this is typical for an INTP.

Concur?

I enjoy LAN parties where I shoot up all my friends with my minigun and then gloat at them.

I've never really thrown a party either. My parents have, but that doesnt really count. I've been to parties before, but was always the awkward quiet one. I'm pretty much always the awkward quiet one..

Yes, other than kid parties or family parties I've never desired to do it.

That's a pretty ethnocentric perspective. Why even imagine the act as true unless denied? I know this isn't the point of the OP, but I do think that this is one of the reasons why anyone would bring this issue up. And no, it depends on the culture. The culture I supposedly belong to prefers to join mass religious synchronized sessions where we stomp our toes and eat meat from the wombs of a freshly murdered mammalian.

I've never thrown a party either, I don't want people puking and fucking in my home. :)

Puking and fucking are really pretty tame to be honest. One of my friends has had the following done in/to his house:

  • Water fights
  • Jelly fights (I remember at one point laying prone on the floor and seeing jelly dripping from the back of his TV)
  • Paddling pools full of jelly and spaghetti in tomato sauce
  • Holes punched in walls
  • Massive amounts of holes drilled in a wall (one guy decided he wanted to make it a "Swiss Wall")
  • In bed, asleep, he was slapped around the face with a spatula full of Nutella. Nutella got EVERYWHERE
  • Bottle of lemonade thrown through a window
  • Fireworks
  • Puking
  • Fucking (on more than one occasion involving his older sister)
Good times. Good times. :)

Edit: To answer the question, yes, I have.

I celebrated my 18th birthday by throwing a party at home. After having to clean up all the vomit the day after I decided to never throw a party again. How the hell someone can throw up behind a washing machine when there's a perfectly nice toilet right beside it is beyond me. This was also during winter so I had to scrape off three lumps of frozen vomit from the porch. Decided right there that it was a lot easier to let other people take care of throwing parties.

I see quite a few have equated "party" with "debauchery".

Good for you!

When I was like 14 years old, I threw a party when my parents were out of town. Our house was around 1000ft2. Approximately 150 people showed up at the party. Imagine the vomit we had on our carpets.

I enjoy *BLEEP* parties where I shoot up all my friends with my *BLEEP* and then gloat at them.

I just had to fake censor your post, Oblivious, it was waiting to happen anyway, since it's a party thread and all.

At my 13th birthday party, I convinced my friends to sneak out with me and purposely got us all caught. We all got in serious trouble..now I just tell people that my parents are too strict to let me hang out with them or have parties.
It works out fine.

First party ever? Lesson 1: You should know that only 50% of the people you invited will actually show up ;)

Since this is a forum for I(ntroverted)NTP, I doubt many people here are into partying.

i have never given a party.

my parents have been inviting folks from kindergarden to one of my birthdays, and i have been hiding from them, all day long. partially hiding in myself and 'in focusing on' my toys. partially hiding under the table and in the cellar ....

most extroverted thing i did was organizing a self helf group of social phobics. writing and handing out flyers. finding potential members in other anxiety groups and on the internet. organizing a room (a friend helped with the latter).

I've never been to a party where people have puked in interesting places. I have been to a party (of sorts) where 100 people suddenly were compelled to say "oh shit!" (and/or fuck) at the same time.

That sounds awesome. I'm up for a party like that as long as it's not in my home.

I used to think I hate parties, but in fact, I just don't like clubs/discos. I like house parties. Especially if they get out of hand like that. Just not in my home...

It depends on the people too, as long as they aren't too stupid, and in the meantime of all the chaos you can have some interesting conversations, it's cool.

I've occasionally invited people to come drink where I live(on condition they have a lot to drnk, extras)(or more accurately, agreed they can come over when they asked), but only the foreplay. As it's when people start to get drunk things get ugly(personal experience). I prefer to go to other peoples home. Except the cleaning it's the same, as I invert into my mind when there are enough people around, so it doesn't matter where I am.

I crashed like 3 of my classmates' birthday parties when I was in elementary school.

Closest I get to throwing my own party is inviting friends over to play video games.

Do parties my parents have thrown in my past count? After that, I have not. Having friends is nice, but I agree that something big would be pretty irritating and draining.

People don't expect me to throw parties because they know that's not the kind of thing I like. Also, I am friends with two distinct groups of people that both know a party involving the two of them together would not go well. I do occasionally go to parties, but more often than not I politely decline.
