I can't help but notice that human beings are not the only mammals that display characteristics of both extroversion and introversion. I think most people can agree that domesticated cats seem to be introverted by and large, and that dogs seem to be very extroverted. However, within each species there are obvious differences in temperament between individuals. What are the evolutionary advantages of being introverted/extroverted? Why are some animals introverted, and others extroverted? I suppose these are questions that cannot be easily answered, and the definitions of introversion/extroversion are probably too ambiguous to be properly attributed to other animals.. but I find myself thinking about this a lot. Anyways, what are everyone's thoughts on introversion/extroversion when applied to the minds of other mammals?
