how do you/did you study?? organize notes?

I am genuinely asking just to get a better idea of how to improve in my study habits and work ethic.

wait until your intuition that you have exactly the amount of time from "now until it's due" to do it, kickstarts the motivation

^ not the best way, but usually...in fact almost always works

Since you're introverted, you'll probably find it most comfortable to study on your own. Because you're intuitive, you should probably attempt to use all of your senses instead of just relying on one of them (such as reading). Might be good to study ways that you could get your intuition to kick in.

Since you're driven by the need to understand everything around you, it's most important for you to know "why" things are like they are - that's what keeps you interested in the subject and what you'll most likely remember later on.

When it comes to science or math, I like to attempt something before we have gone over it in class. One problem I have is that my mind can sometimes be very inhibiting to ideas that don't seem like they would work, so I try to get over that and just see what sorts of solutions I can think up without having been taught how to do something the "right" way. I then later go to class and see how close I was to that "right" way.

Take home message: figuring things out on your own is both A) more fun, like solving a puzzle and B) will help you learn better while at the same time practicing fluid intelligence.

I recommend this short TED talk:

I'm not sure, but it's rather chilly.
I have this nasty habit of not studying at all. Surprisingly, though, my grades stay good, so until the curriculum gets more difficult, I'll probably keep it that way.

As for homework, I usually end up doing it in the wee hours of the morning of the day that it's due.

I've always been a last minute kinda gal. but I also like to look ahead I try it myself if I can. although this can lead to you doing things differently now that wont necessarily work with other things later.

Sometimes I read the chapter in the book.

Does that count?

Reading and doing the problems in an allotted time helps(break up the times if you have to). I would schedule time where I would just focus and study in an environment that works. I would be unavailable. Does listenging to your instructor help you? I remember I could go to class and listen and take notes and understand.

If you have to memorize something, find out if flash cards work. Memorization isn't fun. Does having a study buddy help?

Thanks people. I'm going to read these carefully. Memorization is not my friend.

However, rewriting in my own words is. Thank you

Just wondering, how do you get your intuition to kick in?

The only times I've ever really become engaged with a class is when I essentially learnt, or at least went over, the material beforehand. This means you can give your own interpretation to it, rather than having to learn that of others, which any independent thinker strives for.

I'm not an INTP butttt I am a perfectionist
when it comes to notes. Everything must
be perfectly organized or else I can't. I
just can't. When studying I would go over
the text and make notes of that and then
I would go over notes from class and then
I would study my notes including any personal
drawings of needed materials that required
an illustration. I also had a standing study
date with my friend. We reserved rooms in
the library for periods of four hours and
would sit and study together at times I
would also tutor others in which case it was
hell because they were dumbasses but trying
to teach them on a level they understood
helped me to learn the information even better.

And how I would organize my notes would
depend entirely upon the course, here is
an example though.

Despite the introvert thing, my best - and most enjoyable - studying happened when I found a few other motivated students and got together to do it. This was great for history, because we could debate the topics until we understood them. It was also great for math and physics, because we could share our understanding of how to approach the problems. Pizza is good, background music is good, distractions are not. Group study isn't a must, though.

Remember that part of studying is to get the information into your brain. INTPs need to see the whole of something and that takes time. There may be a time before or during the study where you aren't writing or doing anything obviously useful, but just sitting and pondering. You may even need to walk around and think about something else for a few minutes to let it settle. This isn't laziness; it is preparation. And research indicates that if you don't sleep, you won't retain it, so don't stay up all night.

Each class, teacher, and topic is different, so you have to adapt a bit. There will be some that interest you, or that you are better at, and others that you dislike. Don't give short shrift to any of them. Improving your strengths and shoring up weaknesses both matter.

And finally, if you do procrastinate and rush everything at the last minute, don't kick yourself for running out of time. Try not to leave it to the end, but remember that it happens, and it isn't the end of the world.

My study habits (20+ years ago).

Ignore, ignore, ignore, deny the reality of the test, procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate, realize the reality of the test, study like hell, sleep poorly, ace the test.

I second, sleeping well. Your brain and body processes and rejuvenates while you sleep. Also, I've done some things at the last minute, too. It happens.
