The very fact that I can't see the boundaries of such a thing makes it an intriguing possibility (not to mention the fact, that imagining how to build such a thing, seems to generate lotsa ideas, most of which are totally impractical).

Needless to say we have an enormous talent pool to draw upon in the creation of videos and enough existing content to post hundreds if not thousands of videos across a wide range of topics...

Upside is if we generate enough interest, we could generate enough income to pay the expenses of maintaining this forum, recruit new members into the cult, maybe even build a temple or monument to our ingenuity...

Thoughts?

I've actually looked on youtube for people talking about MBTI and did not find much. I think it's a great idea that leaves room for a lot of creativity and response-jerking topics. I think the biggest upside is just letting the world know that we exist and talking about such topics should be a healthy thing.

We could start off with the "big questions" like religion to draw a bigger audience and work our way down after accumulating an even greater amount. I think we could really draw other rational types because of that original feeling we had that there were other people like us who think about the same things we do.

There's only one really big question now. Who's gonna start it? lol

Well, 24 hours after the Big Bang it looks like just you and me. However, such a project would have to be approved by the Mods and Ragnar and unless more members show an interest, it would be rather pointless to bother those Sleeping Giants.

However, don't lose heart it took me forever to get the Websites of Interests incorporated into the forum and I think it has proven a valuable asset to the forum (?)

Post some specific ideas on this thread for the channel. If nothing else someone will bother to take the time to spoof your ideas and you can respond "so what's your suggestion/solution"

and so it begins

EDIT: after thought I suppose I could convert a thread from the archives into a video with illustrations and a cover tune and post it on my own channel and see what happens. No one watches most of my videos any way - so turning my channel into a lab for mad scientists is not going to hurt anything Besides I can always delete the video after the experiment has been conducted...

I guess I'd be in. I was going to think of something to say to actually contribute but I was drawing a blank when I first visited the thread and then forgot about it and now you guys think there's no interest so I feel the need to comment but I just woke up and am too tired to say something constructive. So yeah. Cool idea.

:DWell, if nothing else we could just post ideas here

The subforums in Arts and Entertainment would be fairly easy to convert.

The music could be divided by genre and placed into different playlists.

The visual could be converted to slideshows

Literature presents a problem though

It is the other subforums that would call for creativity

We have had some rather dramatic threads, maybe someone could find threads that could be turned into scripts and stage re-enactments in a theatrical setting?

Maybe someone could find existing video and replace the audio with a dialogue from a thread. Anime could be an interesting option (?)

There also the comic book format, replacing existing dialogue with stuff from the forum

Maybe vBulletin has some ideas?

Of course, we could do something completely new :D

What I think would be rather interesting would be for us to say, choose I guess like one topic a week and then anyone who's interested or has an opinion could film themselves discussing that. And then everyone could send those to one person who compiles the individual videos into one video in a manner that presents that topic in the form of an interesting and thought provoking discussion.

I think that'd be cool.

Yeah, that could work... But couldn't a step be skipped
Damn memory - what's it called, that new way of watching videos as a group?

there's bound to be some collaboration software that will make this work easier

EDIT: http://mashable.com/2011/08/05/google-plus-record-hangouts/

I mean it has to be fun and/or entertaining to get people to participate, plus manage to get our unsurpassed INTPian creative juices flowing....

Do something new, perhaps?

A parody of a MSM interview/round table of 'experts'...

An opinion poll of "people on the street" Average Joes who just happen to all be INTPians

Hmm! does the name Monty Python ring a bell?
"And Now For something Completely Different..."

I need to quit for now... my brain hurts!

In a box.
I totally support this.

As for the ideas, we would have to make sure that the person actually making the video has the correct resources, especially for ideas like the theatrical reenactment, where you would need (preferably good) actors, costumes, props, editors, cameras, and such. The better the quality of the videos, the more people will become interested.

I like this idea. If anyone can figure out how to make this work I would gladly contribute.

I guess I should have elaborated instead of just posting a link.

It appears that google plus hangout has added some apps that could be used for our purposes, including recording and editing of content (?)

Am I correct in this?

If not are there 3rd party apps that could be used?

Google + works well although there are many otherways to do stuff.

If nothing else we could just have a podcast/weekly news show where we talk about stuff.

Not that I would be interested in participating, but would it be possible to add google + hangout as a subforum, rather like the IRC?

Okay we have enough members expressing an interest to proceed, IMO.

We need the ability to communicate as a group.

I wonder if we could actually open an account on youtube as a group, restrict the privacy setting to 'members only' and then begin to experiment and eventually build a model or prototype, which after completion we present to Ragnar, the Mods and the other Forum members?

If it doesn't work out we can disable the account without it ever being open to the public.

Edit: we need to list the skill sets of the group somewhere to determine our strengths and weaknesses. we might have to seek others to help if we seem to lack skill in a useful area.

I think most people just let people know the password but that requires a lot of trust. You could just have one or two people with the password and have everyone forward the videos to them?

Youtube used to have groups but they removed that feature when they made money out of youtube.

So.........did this happen? I tried to find an INTP forum channel and couldn't so I guess not.

Simultaneously I think this is a good idea but would also require effort that may or may not be consistently available. Though, if enough people were to participate it wouldn't take that much of any one person.

That a good question...
A half dozen of us could have an impressive youtube channel up and running in a matter of hours...

I will try to contact an admin about this. If the admin does not like the INTP Forum channel we put together they can change or delete it if necessary...

I have a question about passwords though, after it is done, there probably needs to be a way of limiting who has access to the password for the channel - is there any easy way to do this?

EDIT: afterthought
I started the youtube video thread
http://intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=4920

in October of 2009 and it has had 33,000 views just on the forum, there is no telling how many of viewings 'our' videos have had on youtube (I guess some one could spend a day counting the views on each video, though, to find out)
Anyway we may as well sign up for adsense on youtube, the ad revenue probably could meet the expenses of maintaining this vBulletin site (?)

I absolutely love this general idea going, but as awesome as all of what you put out would be (nice scenery, actors, cloths,etc..), it seems a tad bit too hopeful, that is for the start-up of this idea at least. I was thinking we could actually try to recreate an eventful thread by trying to recruit the actual members involved to recreate whatever thread it is, if they are too shy or something, then we could always just get a couple of members not involved to make a parody of sorts of a thread (over-exaggerating the words written and what not, I'm sure nobody would get offended, most people seem pretty rocky about that area in this forum)

Awwww man, dat video thread lol, figured this was relevant to say, but I do remember quite a few members being brought here just from my youtube video's alone, I sorta got swamped with questions about which forum I was talking about in on youtube. So that should just reinforce the thought that, yes, people of the interwebz would definitely be intrigued by this if this idea comes to fruition in some form

I'm up for this idea. I'm not entirely fond of appearing in any videos (I will do it if needed), but I can most certainly help out with basically anything else. I have access to Adobe Master Suite CS5.5 which can give our videos quite a professional feel to them.

I realize that this is a rather old thread, but if anyone is still interested, I would like to know.

I'm still interested, though I have no useful computing skills to speak of. I'm dead certain that if the effort was made by a small number of courageous individuals, that there would be more than enough interest in it to justify their efforts.

There are a lot of MBTI/INTP videos on youtube, but there is little overarching method, and a lot of the people that post these videos are likely mistyping themselves and confusing the issue.
