So I am an INTP who loves all types of music, and when I entered the music area of this forum, I realized that I dont listen to ANY of these artists. I want to check some out, but not sure where to start. Give me some of the top must have albums for an INTP.

It all depends on your prior music taste and exposure though.

This is odd... at some point of time almost all artists have been listed before.

I'm new to the site... but just by my browsing through the music section, I was overwhelmed with unfamiliar terrain.

Look into prog rock and metal like Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Dream Theater, Genesis, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Ayreon, Meshuggah, Atheist... I could go on all day, if you want me to. Many INTP music lovers like progressive music.

Yeah duude I made a Portugal. The Man thread earlier this summer, idk if it's already disappeared into obscurity... (I also saw them this summer, I freaking LOVE those guys). Umm, as for Cloud Cult, get their album 'Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus'. I just argued that it's my personal album of the last decade on a last.fm group forum earlier today, and I stand by that. Otherwise, have you gotten into LCD Soundsystem? Their album 'Sound of Silver' is another incredible album. Do you have last.fm, btw? It's a lot easier to look at people's charts and recommend based on that. Oh and if you like Lupe I'm assuming you dig my boy Talib Kweli?? :D

Also, RubberDucky and I tend to musically agree A LOT, I've been noticing this... good form, Duck man!

And on that note, The xx are indeed awesome. They just released their self-titled debut and its been blowing up on that internet... I myself can't stop listening to it.

Yes... I trust anybody's taste in music who is able to listen to Portugal. The Man, and then switch to Talib Kweli like i do. Portugal. The Man is probably one of my favorite bands, and Talib one of my favorite hip-hop lyricists.

Oh for sure, I saw Talib back in Milwaukee like a while ago... damn its been 5 years now. Anyways, he's my dude for sure (Or Devin The Dude). My musical tastes vary from hip hop, indie pop, freak-folk (new weird america, folk, whatever the hell people wanna call it), electro-pop, basically anything with a good beat and some balls. Music is essentially my favorite thing in the world and I listen to a lot of it. I strongly advise you get the two albums I recommended above. Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus' might be hard to find, but it's fucking insane. They cover so many genres of sound, the lyrics are so heart-felt and real, it's everything you could want in an album. And LCD Soundsystem is just bad ass. The songs 'Someone Great' into 'All My Friends' are probably 10 of the best minutes of music you could ever hope to experience. ENOUGH WITH THE HYPE! Get out there!

Yes. I took your advice on the cloud cult album from another thread and i really liked it. Sadly i only had their other 2 later albums, and i like the debut the most.

I would listen to the XX album more, but i feel guilty listening to 1 CD. Almost as if I'm neglecting my children :cat:

Welll Advice isn't actually their debut, but it is their masterpiece. There's not a single track on it that I don't enjoy.

Ha yeah, Idk Advice was released right after their son died and emotionally I just don't think they could have been in a more powerful place to put together an album... I don't see how they could ever top it. That being said, LCD Soundsystem just got ahold of their facebook page and said their next album is going to be released in March. I'm excited.
