This thread is turning into a perfect cure for insomnia! I was gonna recomend reading Dickens, as his works put me to sleep after two pages. Something more engrossing will only keep one up even more.

Under the snow.
I don't think I'm able to fall asleep in a short time anymore; I need more than three hours to do it. For me, trying to sleep means wiggling, barging and soughting to clear my mind. And all those attempts fail.
Then I just stare at the ceiling until my eyes start to hurt.

But there's at least one benefit. While wiggling in my bed, I can penetrate in radom problems uninterruptly and focus on the smallest details which I've left unnoticed.

To help me get to sleep I have a stack of outdated dictionaries sitting beside my bed. If I'm having trouble sleeping I find one of an appropriate size and hit myself in the head with it.

I wish that I could have the motivation to expand my vocabulary. It's enjoyable to play with words, but is broad vocabulary is required to do so well.

"This is interesting. This happens to me in precisely the opposite situation. Whenever exciting or interesting things have happened in the day, I think about them and reflect on them. Then I get so excited sometimes I have to get out of bed and move around." - Choc

Same again! Especially the moving bit. I don't usually have trouble sleeping actually - maybe because I tend to skip nights - but if I do it's usually because I get caught up reflecting. Occasionally I make up stories with all these different characters, and I get quite animated.

Does anyone here NOT have a problem with thinking too much? I seem to have become a lot calmer over the years. I still have slightly frenzied moments but they're few and far between. My brain is not overworked and thinking does not generally cause insomnia. I'm not sure if this is because of the alcohol or because I'm a lousy INTP. Does anyone not have the mental overload problem?

Well, I'm another insomniac. I've practically become nocturnal. My mind is just too busy and for some reason, I'm just not tired enough untill very early in the morning. Even when I go to bed at a decent hour I don't fall asleep untill two or three or later. I was reading something new, so I didn't sleep at all for a couple days last week. Maybe actually waking up this morning will set my sleep patterns straight again. But somehow I doubt it.

I either sleep for days on end, unable to wake up fully, or I am awake for days.
There is no happy medium.

I saw my Psychiatrist today and she gave me some "night time rules"
Pfft

No tea or coffe after noon
No drink or drugs
Once in bed, stay in bed and do not move once comfy (Focus on breathing)
Don't lie in
Get up by 9am

I could go on. It seems she likes to talk about this kind of thing.
