I want to respond to some of these posts but I have to take it easy. Debating and discussing on this board has me more sure of my understanding that ever; I'm learning faster than usual and have real potential to break down. I'll be back when I've gotten used to it, should only take a few days.

Interesting. I remember myself sometime ago. I could engage in a philosophical discourse - that is, the practice of bringing something into light, an unveiling - without it effecting me in any major way.. but these days, if I'm with true seekers, and the nature of existence is explored, it can have immediate and profound perceptual changes.
Before, I used to think that then there was I, and then there was knowledge. I didn't realize that I, the one who see, and knowledge, what I was to grasp, was in a potent and highly efficacious causal relationship.

This happened to me shortly after joining as well. You'll be fine/safe, just let it rest on the back burner for a bit.

I used to think like this. I mean I used to respond to every reply directed to me. If I didn't respond to one, I would feel like I would be discourteous to the person. Then I started communicating with a lot of people who don't respond back to me, so I ended up obtaining the bad habit of not responding to other people as well.

Forums are great ways to learn, especially this forum. Only second to an actual live discussion with someone. It's like it provides this immediate criticism on your understanding.

Oh, not losing an argument was definitely a part of my motivation, until I started thinking that not responding does not equal losing.

By poles, you mean worry about losing vs. discourteous?

and after this, you started thinking that a lack of response indicates arrogance and disregard for the opponent - as if your previous statement was final and his or her further argument or query insufficient or irrelevant.

makes sense. although such tacit suppression techniques are probably transparent to a critically minded and not so gullible crowd such as this one, revealing a loser.

Yes. Sometimes it is thinking time. And by the time one's gone off to do some pondering, one has seen many other replies and considered all of these to some degree and sometimes found that any reply added to this may be somewhat redundant.

Also, sometimes I find I go off and think about all the viewpoints and find there is no response I can come up with that will shed light on things.

The shedding of lights on things-moments are as rare as diamonds in a world of granite and volcanic extrusives.

I feel like my replies are often somewhat comparable with obsidian.
