Let us do away with the notion of anything existing outside of our consciousness.
Instead, we simply recognise the existence of a Representation of Objective Reality which is present in our consciousness. We cannot simply do away with this, and instead must learn to live within it.
If I touch fire, whether or not anything outside of my perception of that fire gives it reality, I will be burned and I will feel pain. So I take it as real in the sense that my behaviour towards it will turn back on me. Such is the case with the rest of our Objective perceptions.
As well as these passive Perceptions, of qualia, of Object recognition, of feeling, there is another aspect - force. We are constantly impressed with particular forces which guide our action within the world, or else try to push us in some direction but with an opposing force which counter acts this.
Hypothesis: pleasure results from an acceleration along these lines of force, pain results from resistance along these lines of force. Our goal, then is to maximise our traversal along these lines of force, which requires first Representing the nature of these forces subjectively, and then attempting to adjust our position in this field such that maximum acceleration will eventually result.
