I found out I am an INTP recently.

Well I signed up for this forum about a week ago. I was directed here via MBTI test. I found out I am an INTP and I feel a little bit compromised. Almost as if I must meet the expectations for one, I took the test blindly not knowing what I was. I feel comfortable knowing there are other people who are similar to me, but at the same time slightly compromised.

Expectations? Lol. So if you fail to meet the expectations then what? Of course there other people like you; you didn't really need MBTI to tell you that. BTW, online MBTI test are not very reliable. Better go read about cognitive functions to figure out your actual type. I'm not saying you aren't an INTP, just that you shouldn't be so certain.
I think personalitynation.com is a good place to read about functions.

The tests are notoriously inaccurate. Study - especially the functions - and decide for yourself if you are an INTP.

But that's not true, the people here are, as far as I know, very understanding and see most viewpoints readily and easily. Meaning that if you have a question about anything, you can ask. Compromised the fact that I didn't know there were personality types. Not sure how to explain it. When I started studying it Via the website links some people post on threads, I feel as if I was better off not knowing I was an INTP. But at the same time I feel better knowing there are others like me, and I now know my strengths and weaknesses. Even though I dont think about my strengths and weaknesses when doing daily activity.

Sometimes. The people who talk about Jung often say a lot of stupid generalizations about the functions and in some cases (with Simulatedworld), explain types through a warped idea of the functions, extrapolating and integrating ideas from MBTI into the functions in order to keep it complete and reasonably accurate. But this creates a huge discrepancy between what Jung talked about and ... good ... then isn't quite the word ... I would use.

Ahh, so you found out intelligent, inquisitive, and constantly questioning people don't have to be INTP. Same here...
