I had only one pair until recently. Someone just bought it for me.. I insisted that I was content with my blue converse. (yes I've been wearing only converse for the past 10 years :O)

I'm pretty sure this could be like an INTP thing. But let's see if that holds up!

I'm happy to wear my favorite items every day and i do think it's an Si thing.
Nevertheless i need stuff for different purposes.
Heavy armory for bad weather, flat soles for skating, soft cushioned soles running, slippers for in-doors.

There's not really one pair of shoes that suits all occasions. For me: hiking shoes, mountain boots, trainers for running, converses for casual, and smarter shoes for work, restaurants, nights out, etc.

yeah, that's why I put 'casuals only' at the top :]

I've got hiking boots and dress/work shoes myself, I just never wear them unless the occasion arises

Please put restrictions in the OP or thread title next time, thanks.

Anyway, I like variety and options so I have a number of shoes regardless.Women's shoes also have more categories.

I occasionally wear 2-3 pairs of shoes, even if I got 7 lying in my wardrobe.

You are correct.
One pair for spring, summer, autumn,
one pair for winter and the muddied parts in-between.
Does the shoe factor correlate to the jacket factor?

I just washed my shoes and it looks sparkling new :]

You know, I also never understood people who buy like those 200 dollar Nike/Adidas/Puma shoes. Shoes are shoes aren't they? I just wear them for the function and simplicity. If it works, it works! it doesn't have to cost a goddamn fortune...

I've worn the same pair of nike's for two years. I've replaced the laces four times. Many relatives insist on buying me a new pair, but get frustrated when I tell them I don't like any pair of shoes they show to me.

I had just one pair for many years, and just now I have two pairs, but at the end just one will stay....

Similar applies for clothes, I was never interested for it, and I bet that I never will. :cat:

I have shoes for various purposes but mainly wear around 3. One for exercise, casual wear; etc. My feet have grown a little recently so I have to replace a few. I only employ and cycle through a few pairs depending on what I'm wearing and the weather and such. I don't really care that much though, like my mom used to see what I was wearing and ask why I wasn't wearing some other pair of shoes I had to match or complement my outfit.

I like a few trademark shoes though and have purchased them multiple times before. I think the economy affected the company though because a few years ago their quality took a noticeable dip. It's important though, not too long ago I got foot pains for wearing a shoe too small for my wide feet. I switched to boots, also for the rain, but now summer is approaching and boots aren't so appropriate recently. Pretty standard.

One pair of strappy sandals for summer and formal occasions and one pair for flats for winter and everyday work. When one pair breaks, I buy a new one. I keep it under $15 a pair. I hate shoes. I hate shoe shopping. I hate socks too. I wish being barefoot was more acceptable.

I have a collection of shoes that I refuse to throw away. There would be maybe 4-5 pairs of casuals and hiking boots, two pairs of heavy winter boots, two pairs of gum boots (one pair for field work, the other pair are lighter city boots and also bright yellow :o- the only colour available at the time). Other than that there are at least 20 pairs of dress shoes that are impossible for me to wear - they were mostly purchases I made at the requests/wishes of former boyfriends who seemed to think I needed to be more lady-like...

Then again, I really wish sometimes that I could actually pull off wearing a pair of nice heels, but I end up looking more like an awkward ibis and my feet f..king hurt after about five minutes. So to my partner's amazement I have this cupboard full of semi-raunchy shoes that he puzzles over; why do I collect shoes that I never wear? I simply cannot throw then away though because they were bloody expensive - what a waste.

I think the intent behind the question is correct - e.g. "INTP's don't usually have a lot of shoes", but as the stories have shown reality gets in the way.

I have (let me count) some 15 pairs, maybe more. Sounds like a lot, but here's the deal

  • A pair of river shoes my wife bought for some vacation, I keep them to use when I have to clean out a gutter during a rainstorm
  • Two pairs of hiking shoes, one small and one large. Got them on sale, and I still like to hike out by the coast, though I haven't done it in a good while
  • Three pairs of running shoes - one current and two previous. These are expensive and I need to change them out frequently (6-12 months), so I keep the old ones for ordinary use
  • Black and brown work uniform shoes (one to go with either black or brown belt)
  • Backup copies of the work shoes (when I find something I like I buy backups so I don't have to shop again)
  • House slippers and backups (picked up the habit in Japan, and Germany, of only wearing really nice slippers while in the house as they do that in both those cultures. The Germans have these neat ones with fancy patterns, mind are just black)
  • Flip flops for gym showers, running around, etc.

So there's a logical reason for them all, and they just kind of collected.

I have 2 pairs: one pair of sneakers and one pair of hiking.

I guess I should have one pair of winter boots and one pair for more formal events, though. Slipping into sandals or clogs is practical if you're just going outside to sit on the porch, or getting something from the car.

I'm probably not INTP, though.

2 pairs of hiking boots.
1 pair of lighter shoes.
1 pair of cheap running shoes.
1 pair of sandals.

The inquiry is not scientific. Questions should be well defined in the scope and subject if the answers are to provide useful information on the topic of INTP shoes.

Damned reality.

How many elegant theories has it brutally murdered since the beginning of time?

One pair for me. And it usually lasts a few years or more. Once I get a new pair, the old gets thrown away.

When I was working as general labourer, I had two. One normal, and one steel-toe.

I tease my friend (ENFJ girl). She has a pair for each shirt and pants she owns. She says the colours and style has to match. :p

I used to have 3 pairs of shoes, one for tennis, one for work, and one casuals.

Now I just have one for work, because I don't play tennis anymore, I transition to BJJ, and casually I just wear sandals.
