Looking back at my life i have to laugh because of all the humiliating things that have happened to me. Before I knew anything about Meyers Briggs I just thought I had exceedlingly bad luck and timing.

Im one who believes a person can morph from one type to another. I was more happy go lucky as a kid but life's little surprises molded me into an INTP. Well, the seeds are there but circumstances can expedite you to your destination.

I became a deep analytical thinker as a result of many of my humiliations in childhood. For starters, I was a tiny kid and didnt hit my growth spurt until late in high school. I went through puberty very late (that will toughen you up in a hurry in high school). A kid named john told a girl i was "hairless" in the caferia after gym class.

I got beat up by the class nerd (I weighed about 120 pounds, then), and didnt get a date because I was so shy, and a girl had to ask me to go to the prom.

I made a fool of myself at my brothers wedding--I fainted during the ring ceremony. And in college i became semi famous for starting a fire accidentally in a dorm room after the popcorn popper spontaneously combusted.

Another time I was giving a speech in a business class and started hyperventilating---i have a mortifying fear of public speaking. I dont drink but before that class I put vodka in a Sprite bottle and was snackered because i was terrified of speaking in front of 25 people.

Lol, anybody else think humiliation and INTP go hand in hand?

Perhaps, I donned the costume of a clown in social situations and a lot of my humor was of the self-effacement type. I guess I figured if I excelled at making fun at my self, no one would tempted to compete with me in that regard.

I also excelled at unwittingly making a fool of myself, which fortunately most thought that was part of my 'Act" when it really wasn't...:o

After a while I began to think that Pride and Shame were just two sides of the same coin, and I endeavored to try not to be so damned self-conscious, didn't really work...:slashnew:

It happens to INTJs and ENTPs and all NTs ... many NTs seem to have traits associated with being a dorky nerd, while STs are more likely to fit the alpha male / provider ideal (or whatever that comes to if translated to NT women). I think it encourages NTs to rely more on their wits.

Humiliation... never

Deep rooted shame basically guides every emotion I have, but not the kind of short tern humiliation that you have mentioned.

I think you'd probably be right. I tend to get quite ashamed when I do something silly. Especially when it has something to do with my other emotions. If I have an angry outburst, I can barely look at the people I was around at the time, simply because I'm so ashamed.

No, that's somewhat insulting.

Alright, how bout this. We, "NT"s, live in an "S" world. We are about 10% of the population. INTPs are about 2 1/2%. The "S"s don't understand us. We don't understand them. Because we are so few, we are the one's who feel 'different.'
"J"s are our biggest problem. They are compelled to 'decide.' We want to think about it until we need to decide. They decide and make stupid mistakes they could have avoided with some though, but it doesn't bother them a bit - they just decide again with closer to the right decision.
We are different from our "NTJ" brothers and sisters by the way we decide things. NTJs are 5%, and they find us fun to be around because we can 'see' things like they do, but we (in their opinion) dither.
You INTPs ought to be glad we ENTPs found you. We are the most like you of any type. We don't think you're any weirder than we think we are.

So now we are being put on the level of ENTPs...

The hummiliation cannot get any worse...

No, I don't think so.

I played sports growing up, and I was/am pretty coordinated. I was a bit of an outcast, I competed in athletics, played sports but I didn't enjoy the company of the same people outside of it. Couldn't hang out with the nerds too often, after extended exposure they became really...annoying.

I was pretty much friends with everyone but never really became part of any one group, I just hung out with all of them in small doses. I was equally accepted by the 'cool' kids and jocks as I was by the nerds.

No idea why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
