Dear fellow INTPs,

I am aware that each type has a dominant, auxiliary, and tertiary function.
As for the INTPs,

Dominant: Ti
Auxiliary: Ne
Tertiary: Si

However, for example, would it be possible to be categorized as an INTP while having a much lower preference for Ti as opposed to Ne?

Or, if such occured, be categorized as an ENTP, who has a dominant Ne?

Hrm.

Yes, and no.

You derive your greatest strength from the marriage of Ti & Ne. The more you develop Ti (with the Ne helper mate) the stronger and more powerful you'll be.

However you can certainly be an INTP with weaker Ti and/or Ne. I was one when younger, instead of going into science I initially went into music, which led to an imbalance of Ne, Si, Fe with weak Ti. Boy was I unbalanced ... which manifested as psychological distress and lack of stamina. Later I went into science and engineering, and my Ti came into dominance again with a corresponding increase in personal power.

In short: yes, and that is not recommended. Cultivate your strengths. And next time use a better thread title, I almost passed this over :)

Did that immediately conjure a mental image of Frankenstein & Igor in anyone else?

Ah. Much thanks.
I see. Now the question is how to develop Ti.
However, I will try to find that out soon without much help! >.<

As for the title, I was stuck in a real rut for that one.

lol

And yes, for an INTP I think I have a very strong Ne. Before I got there I was stuck in a very hopeless Ti/Si situation in which I got depressed and stuff like that. And I was all about pure logic and rationality and truth, but it got boring and, quite frankly, I was on a self destructive path. However, I got out of it and starting developing/making use of Ne, which made life a lot easier.

I think my Ti and Ne are about even, now, or Ne just slightly lower than Ti. How I developed my Ne, I'm not sure, and I'm also not sure if I can give useful tips on how to develop your Ti. Maybe indulge yourself more in Ti stuff, as Architect suggested. "Go back to your roots" or something like that. For me Ti is reading a book or a web page on something that I find interesting and losing yourself in it while delving deeper.

Much thanks, as usual.
I must say though, it seems like the Internet plays a big part when one is seeking to develop their Ti. >.<
