Okay, that was about half the original post before it got too off topic. I actually just want to know how fast you tend to eat meals, and any other things you may wish to add. And I just wanted to let everyone know that if I had a salad it would preferably be gone in less than 3 minutes.
I have considered maybe looking for pizza, pie, or hotdog eating contests but I don't think I'm on that level, most of those guys are olympic style professionals. May actually fair reasonably well in a pizza eating contest, though.
If I push myself I don't think it would be too difficult an experience.
Maybe because I saw Goku & co. do it on more than one occasion growing up as a child, I have no qualms wolfing down a meal. Food is, essentially, energy, and I eat for sustenance. This is even the case when dinner is used as a social event. There was this one guy that said he was always a slow eater and never saw the point in eating fast - clearly he had never seen Dragon Ball Z...
And that's how it is. Of course, water as a beverage must always be at hand, other than that I never saw the point in letting the meal get cold (obviously unless it's something I'm not too keen on eating; etc). I won't sit around the table with a smile on my face acting polite taking little nibbles in an effort to enforce my intellectual superiority & showcase my "vegan" habits - that's just one side of it. When I get hungry I get really hungry and have always apparently had decent metabolism so don't really worry about potential irritation. Not sure if it's always been this way though; recently I've noticed in group gatherings my plate is usually cleared first (or everyone just eats really slow?), and also, people like to get caught up in dinnertable conversations, which I probably do sometimes as well, but if I'm hungry and we're eating then I tend to focus on that, with certain exceptions.
