Hi. I just heard about this place and thought I'd check it out. I saw that there were 399 members and I just couldn't help myself. I had to be the 400th member. I'm a member at a few other MBTI-related sites, but I'm mostly a lurker, so probably nobody has ever heard of me. If you have, and have read some of my posts, you'll know why I mostly lurk: I have trouble staying on topic and being coherent in general. Sometimes, though, if you look hard enough, you might find a tiny grain of good stuff hidden between the lines. So what's it like here? Am I gonna get banned for going off topic or for saying one of the 7 bad words? Anyway, a little about me: I'm 36 years old, married, with 2 kids and 1 on the way. I work in Industrial Electronics, which is kinda cool sometimes. I live in Arkansas. As you might guess from my name, I am an INTP and I have a little Native American blood in my veins.

Where the nowhere begins. Some like to call it Fin
Welcome Eye :D ! Unfortunatetly we don't have any surprises for 400th member... Pity. ;)
Off-topicness... same problem here :D . When I'm telling something I have gazillion (hmm... is that a number? ;) ) things in my mind and it's very hard to keep most of them inside... And when I'm explaining something, the right words just run away from me...
But anyways, keep lurking and posting, we will find those grains of good stuff ;)

Thanks, Dissident. That's a relief! I do try to stay on topic, but one thought leads to another... and another...etc. Pretty soon the post I was making about butter turns into butterflies and then into flies. Did you know carburetor cleaner is great for killing flies? I figured that out recently while working on my lawn mower in my backyard.

Hi Titania. Are you the same Titania who was on INTP Central for a while?
That's too bad about not having a prize for number 400. I was expecting a toaster or something.

Who wants to know?
Hi TiPi. Coincidentially, I was thinking about how many people joined the forum when I was on my way back home :). Question: How did you find out? Did you spill some and a cloud of flies came to lick it up, only to die? If so, tell me the brand. I'm going to stock up (I hate flies).

By the way, you do get a prize; exclusivity.

The flies were bugging me. One of my dogs had a BM right next to me. (rude!) Before I broke down and stood up to get the pooper scooper, I had a hunch that the substance I was using to clean sludge out of my clogged carburetor might be harmful to the flies that were drawn to the pile of poop. I sprayed and most of the flies dropped instantly. A few of them tried to get away, but they were all dead in a few seconds. I don't think the brand matters much. It's all mostly ether. It's effective, but has properties that make it a poor choice for an insecticide. It's a hydrocarbon, I think, so you have all those greenhouse gas and ozone issues. It's also extremely flammable. I held a lighter in front of the can and sprayed into the flame. The ten foot long flame makes an effective weapon against flying wasps, but it's kinda dangerous to do that. I was probably a bad father, letting my kids watch me kill a wasp with my improvised flame thrower. Bad example, etc... Oh well. I'm only in my mid thirties, so I'm still just a kid myself.

Permethrin (sp?) is a good bug killer and not extremely toxic to humans. I wouldn't drink it, though. Carburetor cleaner is fast acting, but I think I heard somewhere that they have to burn down 3 acres of rain forest just to make one can. That might not be entirely accurate.

I can live with exclusivity as my prize. I'll always be 400. I didn't need a toaster anyway.

Its funny but I sometimes start unconsciously speaking out loud when my mind is doing word games like that. Some friends can keep up, but most mortals think I'm crazy.

I didn't need a toaster anyway.

Insect-torch toast FTW!
