So I just recently found out that I'm an INTP. For years I was under the impression I was an INFP (which really seemed strange for a variety of reasons) as that's the result I kept getting from the standard tests. I then found out about a program developed by a lab in Cambridge that analyzes FB likes and writing samples and spits out a bunch of data including an MBTI type. Using multiple writing samples both large and small (these weren't contrived writing samples they were from FB conversations and papers I had written) I kept getting INTP. I imagine that I had been answering questions based on the mindset I wanted to think I had rather than the one I actually do have. After a lot of research on that type my world suddenly makes a lot more sense. It's a nearly perfect. And so here I am.

I lost my email so I can't get back into facebook. Do you know if the company can analyse blogs and other online activity to type someone? On facebook namtest said that I have an IQ of 155 and that I am the angel Raphael. I am sure their accuracy has improved in the past two years but I am certain my intelligence is not that high. I currently think I am INFP and that would match with Raphael.

I don't think they would do that directly (at least I can't find an option like that on their site) but if you go to https://applymagicsauce.com/demo.html and select "predict profile from text" you can copy and paste anything you've written. I would do that several times with different samples of writing (the longer the better).

I used my blog as a reference and averaged out I got INTP 5 times age 31.6 - my real age is 29 so it is close. Not sure about the types though. The two texts where I got ISTJ resemble Auburn's style. That would make him ISTJ. Auburn is super structured in the way he writes. My two text were really structured as well. I guess I might not be INFP. As I contemplate more it seems that INFP's are more storytellers than they are puzzlers. I look at things as puzzles rather than stories.

Here are the types I got:

INTJ - 27
ISTJ - 21
ISTJ - 26
ESFJ - 15
INTP - 23
INTP - 26
INTP - 30
INTP - 36
INTP - 43

hi there. was alternating between those two test results myself. and people see me as the one or the other, depending, INFP if they see my picture, INTP if they know my thoughts. but that is all about dichotomy cliches.

we had a thread about this applymagicauce thing:

Mine rarely came up as anything but INTP and nearly everything I read about that type fits. Now I can't say how accurate or sophisticated their system is but for me it's accurate. One recurring theme in my life is a huge sign that I'm not an INFP. I'm in a master's program for counseling and the main criticism I get from my professors is that I don't show enough empathy or connection to emotions. I feel emotions incredibly strongly but my solution for handling them (and other people's emotions) is to analyze them logically and problem-solve. If you like to systematically figure things out and deconstruct every experience or idea, and have a need to make logical sense of everything, you might be an INTP. That's me. I will agonize over the most minute details until they all fit together with perfect coherence. I attack emotions that same way and if that doesn't work I just lock them down.

Oh hey thanks for the link! For me the FB likes system gave a result that made no sense. The text system seemed much more consistent and likely to be accurate. As to your other statement, I think it's also important to keep in mind that societal conditioning can be pretty powerful and can at times override our natural traits, making it a bit uncertain. Also, with how complex society is these days we can end up playing a lot of roles that are very different and that can confuse the matter. I know for me it's sometimes tough to separate the roles from my actual personality after years playing them. And really the roles we play are just personality variations.

I usually get INTJ on these but I'm not sure how much I can trust them since I have gotten INTP in the past, and INFP. I used one of these a few years ago and got ESFP too. End of the day I'd say a good old fashioned test is the best bet as supplementary material if anything. But welcome to the forum I guess, I think you'll have compatible relationships and interactions with people here and be well.

Well, a lot of folks argue that the entire framework shouldn't be trusted on the basis of a lack of empirical support, although I personally disagree with throwing it out over that for a variety of reasons.
