My first message here... It's 5 am, cold, cold, raining and I haven't slept all night. Sorry for any spelling mistakes that might come up.

Why am I here? As I read here (and I have to agree) - it sucks being an INTP. The same question, over and over - "what the hell is wrong with you?" brought me here. Really, what, exactly is wrong? Should I fight or embrace it? I'm curious.

Well, hi. Anastasia is my real name. I'm 27, from Israel. Like any good Israeli, served my part in IDF and now I'm a freelance graphic designer and entrepreneur. Not married... And the thought of it scares me, frankly. I love art, cinema, good sci-fi and I'm also a freak of self education. Can't stand school.

That's all, I guess. Good morning to you all.

Actually, in my book, morning can't be good.

Welcome Anastasia.

I think you need to embrace the dark side er... INTP side and express your unique self. People aren't meant to live in cages.

only halfway there
I thought i had avoidance personality disorder until i found out about introversion. But i was still a weird introvert, now i know i am an intp and still weird (._.) If people mess with you tell them you value your sanity over their opinion of you, they will leave you alone.

I used to think I have Asperger's disorder... Nevertheless, I'm not bothered by people's opinion about my behavior, it was a rhetorical question I think about sometimes... and usually end up with the same conclusion - if I was any different I would be much, much less interesting. I'd like to have two of myself.

One more reason to be here :cthulhu:

Graphic designer. Were you involved in any of the posters or messages between Israeli's and Iranians about how all of you don't want war and love each other as human beings?

I knew a girl in Israel once. Her name was Tamar.

My country likes yours. We have good relations.

No. Absolutely not. I would never participate in that kind of activity. Not that I'm a fan of war, I just have a firm opinion about Israeli warfare in particular. And I happen to be a realist. Posters? Really?? Sounds like a promising idea.

Hello Anastasia,

Greetings from another new INTP.

Perhaps you might favor a question. What makes you think you are different?

I spent 55 years trying to live among the "other people". Now, I'd like to successfully coexist with them....That make sense?

Glad to see another person finding their way.....:-):cat:

Rick... I don't really understand your question. What makes me think I'm different? Everyone are existing in their own reality, and with INTP's it's especially intense. We need to make sense of how things work and co-exist. I'm not different. It's my perseption of life makes me more involved with my inner world.

Base groove - I don't know what do you see there exactly, but it's drugs.

Welcome. It's 4pm here, raining, cold, etc.

I, for one, don't think that it sucks to be an INTP, but, I think I understand your motivation for saying so. I don't know that anything is wrong either, but, again, I understand that, "the world" says that we're aberrant, or worse. You're in good company here though.

Hi! Dave is my real name (well, David, I suppose, and, my genealogy on my father's side extends to Russian Jews from the 19th century, and, honestly, I can probably trace ancestry to the Levites, should I focus my attention on that -- but I digress...) I did no similar service here in the USA, but, I have a complicated history with the military. I'm a freelance academic mercenary, editor, and director.
Not married... And the thought of it scares me, frankly. I love art, cinema, good sci-fi and I'm also a freak of self education. Can't stand school.
I've been married 25 years. The thought scares me. :) (Not really.) I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy, when I have the time to read. While I have some traditional education (graduate degree in philosophy), I have far more self-education than traditional education (which is probably the rule here, rather than the exception).
That's all, I guess. Good morning to you all.

Actually, in my book, morning can't be good.
Agreed. Though, sadly, I'm more productive in the morning....

Perhaps I'm just tired and worn out from the grind of living these days. There seems little hope for finding a place to co-exist from where am. As though there is no place to find......

Thanks for responding:)

Welcome Anastasia.

I would like to visit your beautiful and interesting country one day. Also, I'm a bit of a fan of Israeli movies, and I find the language fascinating.

What do you like most about your country?

Dave, thanks for your message, it's an interesting company to say the least. I came back to this thought and I guess it's much harder for women to be an INTP. I, personally, find it hard to relate to other women and their typical conversation about babies/husbands/clothes, etc. I wonder if the same happens with men.

I'm also a Russian Jew. Do you know a bit of Russian?

And one thing I found interesting about you in particular:

I have a complicated history with the military. I'm a freelance academic mercenary, editor, and director.

Do you have anything to do with PMCs? If so, I'd like to chat about it sometime.

PS. I'm a night owl. And my day has 48 hours, more or less. Why go to sleep when you want to finish that book/project/read Wikipedia aimlessly?

Polaris, thanks :)

You're welcome to visit Israel, it's really easy - many young people over here take part in couch surfing, and will gladly find a place for you to crash and show you around. I'm planning to have over tourists myself when I find a new place to live.

You're probably the only person I met (online) who likes Israeli movies. Did you see Waltz With Bashir?

And what do I like the most... I guess you can call Israel an "open source" country. You can make any idea happen, and probably will find people to invest and help you with any project. Israel thrives on start-ups and it makes me kind of jealous of INTJs. They make shit done. I'm a lazy-ass INTP who has a million ideas a day. I write them down, build strategy, wrap them up logically and... that's it. Finished. If only I could sell my ideas to someone :smoker:

That kind of activity? Sending messages of mutual respect back and forth between regular Israeli and Iranian citizens, messages that say 'As an Israeli/Iranian I don't want war and don't want to be your enemy, to you is a bad thing?

And after this happened in Israel, other nations started to do it too. Seems that most regular citizens don't want war and conflict and just want peace and mutual respect.

Like a kid shared, that she was made to walk over the Israeli flag entering the school building, and that she hated that. Seems Iranians aren't stupid. And can think for themselves. And that their leadership is the issue.

Who said bad? Just not effective.

I've done my share of peaceful negotiations with Palestinians and had very long conversations with all sorts of people from Arab countries. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about when I say that messages of mutual respect are nice, but not useful. Not in the case of Israel, especially.

I believe that I won't be wrong if I say that you're not really involved in Israeli-Iranian politics... It's a game of fear and manipulation, certainly not a love story. I'm not being cynical and gloomy on purpose, but in current situation, this show of unicorns and rainbows is like healing cancer with prayers.

1. No one wants war on either side. It's obvious without TED.
2. There will be no war. It's just plain scare tactics, which have been proved to work on citizens.
3. Citizens don't run the show.
4. Excuse my brutal honesty.

Most people I ever meet online say they don't run the show. That is what is the problem in the world.

...I, personally, find it hard to relate to other women and their typical conversation about babies/husbands/clothes, etc. I wonder if the same happens with men.
I would suspect that at least some of that "typical conversation" is biological. I mean that quite literally. My own wife, for instance, underwent substantial changes, for instance, after having children (which isn't to say that I did not). But, things like her preferences and aesthetic tastes, clearly were changed by the changes related to having kids. I know a few INTP females (not associated with this forum); but, those I know never had children.
I'm also a Russian Jew. Do you know a bit of Russian?
I wish! Alas, my family separated from its roots more than two generations ago and so, from a certain point of view, I'm thoroughly American. (Interestingly, while my father's side was Russian Jew, my mother's father was German and my mother's mother was British. My background covers a large swath of European-theater World War II.)
And one thing I found interesting about you in particular:

I have a complicated history with the military. I'm a freelance academic mercenary, editor, and director.

Again, sorry to disappoint, but, no. I worked as a private tutor (math and science, mostly) for cadets at a military school for about 15 years, and taught at that school (again, math and science, mostly) for about 5 years. I developed relationships with quite a few colonels, majors, etc., over those years, and, many of the people I worked with ended up serving the US military or intelligence services. I myself, however, never served (my father was military police in the US during the Cuban Missile Crisis and his stories did not inspire me to enlist).
PS. I'm a night owl. And my day has 48 hours, more or less. Why go to sleep when you want to finish that book/project/read Wikipedia aimlessly?
I have a 20-year-old son who has a similar sleep-wake cycle, how interesting...
