Hello all, new member here, British, studying undergrad physics in London which was best choice I ever made - I did the whole 'INTP lost, bitter and twisted in the big bad world' thing for a few years then thought, "Fuck it, INTPs are supposed to be good at maths and physics." and decided to test the theory, got my head into a few books and, well... all is now excellent.

This looks like a cool forum. I like the design and layout. Hopefully I'll stick around!

Welcome sir.

How long did you wallow in your "lost, bitter and twisted" phase? I think I'm still stuck in mine.

Also, do you have time to learn about our master and destroyer, the great old one, Cthulhu?

Jolly good show, old bean! :) I've won a bally scrap with the fiendish depression and found joy in physics, too, and if we both keep our upper lips stiff, then we'll be laureates in time for tea and medals, eh wot!

And now for something completely different: I am not a jovial British gentleman, only interested in physics and later victorious over unintentionally self-inflicted existential despair. I wish you luck! :)

Thanks guys!

@Lot -

I wasn't exactly depressed as such. I was just utterly lost and hated the way the world seemed to be. I just did what everyone else had done, I finished school and started to play the game of life - earn money, spend money, rinse and repeat. I consider myself quite lucky to have not gone directly to university, and looking back on my years as a bored lost soul, I actually feel I learned a huge amount about the world and myself. So it's all good really. I'm certainly glad I've moved on though.

From the moment I finished school (aged 18) to the day I managed to save enough to quit my job and do the whole 'travelling' thing and 'find myself', it was about 6 years.

Things may have improved simply because I'm growing up. I definitely think the world of the INTP only gets better with age. As I drift further away from my youth, I feel less need to socially conform, and more happiness living exactly as I want.
