Hi everyone, I'm Hargy from Canada!

I joined up because I thought it would be lovely to talk to people that think on the same wavelength as me(Not many people I know that do).

I love the mathematical field, although I'm not too deep into it yet I find it incredibly interesting and even fun at times. I'm a black belt in taekwondo, blue belt in japanese jiu jitsu, love snowboarding and gymnastics.

Ummmm yea! I'm not great with introductions, but there's a bit about myself. Ask me questions!

Hargy

How many newtons joules, more or less, do you need to kill an average person in taekwondo compared to jiu jitsu?
If this cannot apply to one of these, because you lack special moves then:
How many newtons do you need on average to pacify one person?

Suppose 1 knife, and 180cm/90 kg guy.

Hi Hargy,

I recently saw my only good film about the martial arts. I would recognize the expert's name but forget it and the movie name. A drug lord was king of some island and our hero had to go out and defeat him. Good film.

Anyway I'm a white belt in one of those arts. I have a question. I can't see the beginner's level as being the slightest threat. What level would one have to achieve to be a threat say against a knife or gun?

I heard a few years ago a martial arts person had an encounter here in New York City. He must have lost control because he killed the other guy with some fast moves. Don't know what happened to him.

blue belt in japanese jiu jitsu

How odd... Where I took jujutsu, there were only white, brown, and black belts. They said that in the old days, the color of your belt was determined by how much dirt it had picked up from sliding across the floor.

Hmmm.... This sounds cruel but India or China to deal with our massive population increase.

Hello
Good question. I couldn't say exactly how many newtons need. I can say that killing someone with jiu jitsu would be much easier than trying to kill someone with taekwondo. Jiu Jitsu is just downright nasty.

Thanks! I should have specified, ask me a question if you want, it's not a requirement. :p

In the branch of Jiu Jitsu I train under, we start knife defence within the first month or so. To become proficient against hanguns/knives, maybe 3-6 months? Depends how often you train, how good your hand-eye coordination is, and other factors.

The encounter you talk about probably wasn't an accident. Not saying he intended to kill the guy, but a lot of the techniques redirect the barrel in a way that it usually ends up pointing back at them. This way no innocents are harmed, and you've cleared your body of the barrel. If his finger is on the trigger and he happens to pull it by accident during the struggle... His prints on the trigger, not yours.

The West!
I would say the west coast, but Nova Scotia(east coast) is incredibly beautiful as well.
I'm gonna assume the prairies.
I'm gonna guess and say you're from Ontario.
Elephants? .... Which province has the most zoos?

The belt system was actually invented by a judo master in the 1800's I believe. Before then it was either a white belt, or a black belt once you had tested for it. Many places have different belt systems. In my style, blue belt would be advanced-intermediate material, or beginner-advanced.
