Hi, I am new here and just wanted to post a hello. I took an MBTI test last year as part of a college course and well, I am an INTP. But, I guess I decided to register here today because I have a question.

I apologize if this has already been posted, I used the search function but it came up with no results. Does anyone ever feel misunderstood when communicating with others? For example, I am learning to program and I absaloutly love it. I usually rely on books or web tutorials to help me learn but sometimes that just isn't enough and I have to ask someone a question, usually over the internet. Yet, everytime I do comeout of my lonely dark room to ask a question I am left with vulgar, rude, and hateful comments. People tell me my idea's are stupid and will never work in such hateful ways that really hurt sometimes. I have no idea why this happens. I never intimidate anyone or ask in a snide way. I don't understand why someone can't just answer a simple question without having to do so in such a rude manner.

Again, I apologize if this is coming across as depressing or if I am stating the blatantly obvious. I took a pretty hard blow to my self-confidence today because of this.

Welcome Akacae.

I have trouble communicating all the time. It's a challenge, and I'm pretty much resigned to being misunderstood, but I don't think I experience quite what you're describing. Maybe someone else here has?

I tend to try reading before asking as much as possible. For some reason, I have trouble with learning by being told things verbally. The same goes for explaining things to others. I generally prefer written communication and solving written assignments. That being said, I always did well in school.

The problem is the Internet. Many individuals are ass holes on the Internet because they are shadow dancers: what they do on the InterWebz wont come back to haunt them in real life (usually).

I don't think the problem is yours, Akacae; I reckon it is with the individuals disrespecting you. However, I could be wrong. Care to link us to a thread where you were given abuse?
